You don't need the Xbox or PS for streaming services, that can all be done through the TV. The Wii showed you can use your TV remote as a controller. Right now many TV manufacturers, (Samsung and LG in particular) are looking at having their own game platforms/services. As the console market moves away from physical based disc games, the need for a physical console becomes obsolete. Many market prognosticators are predicting that all you need to game will be included with your next TV purchase, circa 2017/2018.
Most of the comments here are forgetting about DLC. Most publishers are cutting out important parts of the game and sellingthem back as $10 Day #1 DLC. Many games have been coming out with DLC now valued at $15 and I expect most publishers to begin offering Day 1 DLC at that $15 price point. So I think the analyst is wrong...next gen games will have an initial value of $75 and not $70.
People really bought this game? Why?!?! Haven't 25 million different versions of this same game been released already? Were you sitting around thinking...I really enjoy "Sim" games, but you know I really, really, really need a headache to go with it, by trying to log onto servers that can't handle it?
I don't think the monkey's at EA get it. After all, gamers embrace and enjoy microtransactions. We all want to keep purchasing the same game over and over again too. Who needs horror when you can play a ME clone that not enough like Call of Duty.
Get divorced then talk to me about assumptions. Btw, you have to spend tens of thousands of dollars paying lawyers before you even get to see the judge. And when you lose, you have a high probability of paying your spouses tens of thousands of dollars for her legal defense. Complete BS!!!
