@Double-Ego The point is just that people tend to act like the HDTV is separate from their gaming experience, but it's really no more separate from your console gaming experience than the motherboard, hard drive, case, monitor, power supply, etc are separate from your PC gaming experience.
Comparing the cost of PC vs console gaming is tricky. In its simplest form, yes you can game on consoles for less than you can game on a PC and yes you can spend more money on PC gaming to get better visuals than on console.
But on average, the total costs involved do not need to be as divergent as people like to think. They only are when you set up PC gamers as the straw man who upgrades to brand new top of the line hardware every 2 years or something.
@Double-Ego I know plenty of console gamers that use 200 dollar headsets and have 200 dollars worth of controllers and spent $1-2k on their HDTV...
Comparing the cost of console hardware alone to the cost of the entirety of a PC setup is a skewed comparison. Just as skewed as comparing a graphics card to an HDTV + console + peripherals setups.
The fact is that most people underestimate the cost of console gaming and overestimate the cost of PC gaming.
@Double-Ego Taking HDTVs into the equation is no more ridiculous than someone ignoring the price of everything but a graphics card (since many/most people already own a desktop of some form) when talking about PC gaming.
@Double-Ego @The_Beanster @highlanderjimd @Faster_Bill The Crysis 3 comment was in response to a moron who thought that Uncharted or God of War have technically impressive graphics.
