@Halloll No they weren't, you just aren't good at understanding the concepts of the game.

Hidden bonfires are hidden BECAUSE it makes it harder to survive. If you want to rest, you've got to find it. Besides, most bonfires are in pretty obvious places, you can see them from a mile away.

Also, clearly you haven't been playing this game much. The game barely requires backtracking through long distances. And the first time it does - Anor Londo, you get an item that basially teleports you to any major bonfire you want -- free of charge.

Your complaint is better suited for Dragon's Dogma, because Dark Souls did have free fast travel -- But that feature, like everything else in the game, must be earned.

Actually, the beauty of Dark Souls is that it rarely has cheap deaths. In most of the cases, if it wasn't a glitch or bug, it's your fault.

Maybe you should stop running and rushing around without looking at what's behind the corner.

You retain damage because you failed and you need to pay the price. If there were checkpoints, the game would lose it's flair as the punishing game it is.

I tihnk you are just too conditioned by modern gaming to understand this, but the achievement given by victory in Dark Souls triumphs almost anything else in gaming, simply because it was hard-earned.

@sune_Gem People hated Notch long before that, when he promised alot of things for his game and almost never held true to those promises, mainly just taking vacations and spending his sweet dosh.

@Dezuria I'd probably vote a more infuential game developer if needed, or better, someone who has actually done something important other than develop a game in Java that somehow became a hit because no one thought of bringing lego to real game form ( Gotta tip off the hat to that, I feel stupid for it).

Great figure for a fairly niche game. I loved that game hard.

I also really like the artstyle of those games. Really classy, dark, medieval fantasy style.

Despite the stigmas of JRPGs, Dark Souls is definately a very mature and dark game set in a very scary and bleak world, a refreshing change from the Pony-ville alot of WRPGs became, and the stale, generic Animu moe crap of other fellow JRPG.

Platinum, Kojima Prod. and From Software are relics of what was once the mighty titan known as the Japanese gaming industry.

Keep rocking, From. Can't wait for DS2.

@faceless-mask @JPL1982 @unreal101 I ALWAYS play KB+M on PC, but Dark Souls simply doesn't work with that setup. It's unnatural, it wasn't meant to be this way, and honestly, them just porting camera controls to the mouse and leaving the 8 axis limit on was plain stupid.

There is no other way to play this game than with a controller. The most optimal one being the Dualshock.

@Dannystaples14 @dussan2 I never lokoed up strategies for bosses and how to get through places, but I did look up certain items so I can carefully build a plan to make the most out of my equipment.

I made the mistake of gonig full blind in Demons Souls, and it has brought me more grief than I wish to remember. Better safe than sorry.
