@blackace @dragonkantus @DiamondDM13 Not at all. Alot of other games some would consider to be even more engrossing than the Souls or more punishing sell like shit.

You know why? Because Souls, and those games, are niche. They aren't the mainstream.

So for a game like Souls to go double platinum, is a good achievement, to say the least.

Plus, you can be sure it earned for the developers more than Tomb Raider or the latest Crysis 3 did. Why? Because they spent so little on marketing in the west, there was no loss to recoup for. They are mostly seeing positive revenue from every sale, while other devs are still paying debts.

@milannoir I agree, and I think CDProjekt and other studios which do the same thing, are playing it right.

They release a fairly anonymous game, yet make sure to make it known it's there, without actually spending the big dosh.

They are forming a community -- a fanbase. And a fanbase is not only mostly free, it's possibly one of the strongest methods, One person tells about this game to another person, this person tells about the game to another person, and you can maybe get a dozen new people knowing and following this game from every single fan.

Now, consider your fans are in the thousands -- word spreads, they grow to the 10's of thousands and even 100 thousand in a few years, while you look from the side.

Then, there's interviews on big sites like GameTrailers, IGN, and GameSpot, site adverts, and maybe some game magazine shots, all of those not nearly as costly as one 30-second TV commercial.

Yes, the game won't sell like the new COD or Battlefield, but for the price the developer spends on it, i'd be damned if it won't make some good revenue.

I believe pushing graphics is important. They are paving the way for better looking and better performing games, thus allowing us to further immerse ourselves in a quality experience.

I mean, with all due respect, Blocky faces and terribad textures can take alot away from immersion.

HOWEVER, Graphics should not come at the cost of good gameplay. There needs to be a balance between the two to make ends meet.

Crysis 3 is a beautiful game, but is it fun to play? Some will say yes, others, not so much. Yet i'm sure the budget used for this game shows EA expected it to sell way over what it should've.

And to be honest, I don't like the turn CryEngine 3 has took with all that Post-Processing. It's not very pretty, feels like a filter was put on screen, and it takes a major hit to performance. Even with my GTX 670 OC, I lagged with highest settings.

I hate it when games look bad, but I also hate it when games look pretty yet offer nothing more. There needs to be a balance, A BALANCE!.

@Winzent IF only I had some money to spare.. Divinity 2 was one of the best RPGs I've ever played, it's a great mix of the oldschool with the new generation.

Plus, it's got some great features.

Oh, what's that, Dragonborn? You can ride dragons now? How adorable. Can you turn into one and rain chaos on the land? NO??

Allow me to laugh.

@RIIIIKU ... Uhm, you do realize other games are practically Murder simulators?

And you are worrying about a game of Stealing?

You know, I don't think Gaming is for you.

@Icepick_Trotter @Printul_Noptii Too fucking true. Every single time a console nears death, SUDDENTLY THEY GIVE A ****!

Still, Eidos never dissapointed on PC titles, so i'm willing to believe them.
