Regardless of how old your computer is, the turns do get longer as the game goes on. If upgrading is not in your immediate future, trying playing smaller map and fewer opposing civs.

As Buzz Lightyear would say, "What a sad strange little man you are." You crack me up. "ALL" my moaning is it? Like the ENTIRE quantity of moaning I ever produced? Everything I said in this thread is posted above. Which part was I moaning? I mean, you're the moaning expert, and I have to know in order to stop it, right?

achilles614

*sigh* once again with the moaning, what's a man to do for peace on GS?

Oh, I don't know. Not make random silly comments? But whatever. I moan. You're cool. Peace.

We're still friends aren't we?

Friends?? We're like brothers almost, man.

[QUOTE="TryDaBeardON"]What kind of desks you all have? Tiny little toy desks? Or you all nine feet tall that you have to "hunch over," or maybe you're myopic or something. I sit about 3 feet away from the screen, leaning back in my chair, both elbows on arms of the chair, operating keyboard and mouse without any gremlin-like posture. Good luck with that controller, though.achilles614

Wow looks like someone's e-peen got insulted

Be careful not to get man-goo all of that keyboard of yours alright? ;)

Other open minded people like myself are content with the best of both worlds:)

Not sure where you got that machismo vibe from, slanging cool internet slang at me and everything, but I wasn't insulted. In fact, I wasn't anywhere near insulted. Just baffled, kind of like after reading your post. I keep hearing this "hunchback" argument in defense of the controller and can't figure out where it's coming from. But hey, whatever. I'm happy you content with the "best of both worlds," whatever that means. As long as we don't have to talk about my "e-peen."

Fine by me...I mean if it will stop all your moaning.

GTX 280 is $520 at the egg, that is down $130 after a month.

Still a little high, but not as insane as the launch price.

The bottom line with high end components is, you will regret it a couple months later.

Either something better will be out, or the price willl be lower than what you paid.

You have to make a decision and not look back.

Yeah, just trying to look to the future a bit. With my 600W psu, I know I'll have to upgrade it if I want to add another hd4870 for CF, but with gtx260 I may be able to get away without upgrading. Not really interested in gtx280. Price to performance difference between that and 260 is about as bad as the difference between 4870 and 4850, but while I can do with wasting 300 over 200, wasting 500 over 300 is definitely not for me.

Still, all things considered it'sprobably going to be GA x48 plus single HD4870 for me. Going from AMD CPU + NVidia GPU of the previous build to Intel+ATI. No, I guess I'm not a fanboy ;)

More research, and I'm back on the freaking fence. It seems that my concerns with power consumption are not valid, since a single HD4870 consumes about the same amount of it as 2 8800 GTs in SLI. With that in mind, 2 GTs in SLI cost about 50 bucks more but outperform the single HD4870 by a healthy margin pretty much across the board. Now, as time goes on a little and board partners start getting better built 4870s out there this will probably change, but I don't think I want to wait more than two weeks. What to do???
