Stupid Me...

Man, I am one broke-ass scrub right now. A week ago, I bought a PS2, since I'm spending a lot of time at G-Ma's house, taking care of my grandpa...just needed a system to keep me occupied, yet at the same time, if it were to burst in flames, it wouldn't be a hard loss.

Today, I picked up Saint's Row II, Dead Space, and Golden Axe, the latter being pure Golden Axe fanboyism. I remember enjoying this game back in the day, and it looks to be one of those "for fans only" kind of game. So I'm not expecting to be completely blown away by it, but will enjoy it, nonetheless...I hope.

Of course, there's also Fallout 3, Midnight Club and Fable II coming out just around the corner. Man, this month is expensive as hell. Anyway, I can't wait for Thursday night to come by...after work, I get to finally reward myself for all the years I've put in this company and play videogames all night until my eyes dry out. lol. But at least I have internet here now, so I can download to my heart's content. Internet porn galore, indeed. What can I say, I'm bored as hell here.

Well, take care, friends. I'll get back to you guys soon, and I hope you all are enjoying the awesome games that have come out. Laters.

The SSX Of Racing (Pure)

Just picked up Pure, which like the title implies, has you pulling off crazy ass tricks while trying to make it first to the finish line. And it's about as fun as it sounds, assuming you're into that sort of thing. Also, I've started playing Oblivion from scratch...and suprisingly, as old as this game is, the fun factor still holds up pretty well.

Anyway, sorry I haven't been around lately. My grandma passed away a week ago, and I've been taking care of my grandpa. Discussing family issues, preparing the funeral, making arrangements with the (Buddhist) priest, and simply just trying not to cry my eyes out in front of the little ones. But it's good to have a few days being home alone and trying to relax and having work be the only thing to worry about for now.

So take this as my last post for a while...I got about a month's worth of laundry to wash, an entire house to clean, and I kid you not, a towering load of dishes that have been neglected since the dawn of time...and since I love to procrastinate and get distracted so easily, it's probably going to take a while. Take care, and I'll see you next time I log on, friends.

World War II: 1939-Present Day

I may be alone here, but I must say that I'm pretty exhausted with WWII shooters now. Not that they're bad, I'm just saying that fighting a war that has happened over sixty years ago and playing them over ten years, game developers should take a break. Hell, this is the NEXT GENERATION...I want to shoot laser beams and pocket nukes at robotic zombies (or something of equality), not using outdated weaponry at enemies my grandparents fought.

It reminds me of the joke I told a friend once, when World At War was announced: "Hey, the joke's on me now. Instead of killing your relatives, this year I'll be shooting at my own ancestors." Still, with first person shooters crowding consoles and computers, games have a third epidemic: WWII games that flood the market on a yearly basis much like sports games do now.

Which brings another joke I told a friend a while ago: "When you don't have any ideas for a game, make a WWII shooter!" And by that I meant with so many shooters based on that concept, games have that "re-run" feel to it much like stale sitcoms do during late night television...the feared trail that no American dares to tresspass upon, unless he is seriously that bored.

I'm not saying that I hate the WWII franchise, rather that I hate the idea of WWII becoming a franchise. I mean, how much more can people siphon out of this ancient period of time before they finally decide to move on? Sport games come out every year because of updates towards rosters and plays (IDK, I'm not a sports person). You can't update a war that old, now can you? Well, unless someone wants to pick a fight with Germany (or Japan, if you're technical) again.

Star Wars: TFU...Really THAT Hyped!?

Don't get me wrong people, I want this game just as bad as everybody else, but even I must say, is it really in that much high demand? I mean, I am picking this game up, and I most definately will enjoy it, but at the same time I seriously don't think it will be the greatest game most people make it out to be.

I guess what's really tripping me out is there actually is a midnight release for this game. I mean, even the mall where I regularly pick up my games will be open strictly for that game...which really confuses me since GTAIV nor Halo 3 had that luxury. I guess what I'm saying is, am I missing a key point here as to why a lot of people are making it seem that this particular game is destined to blow me away much like GTAIV has?

I don't mean to be so negative about the game, it's just that I know I'll be impressed by this game, but I don't feel like the hype should send it way over its head to a point where everyone will be nagging about its flaws because it failed to live up the the massive hype. Let's face it: As much as I love posting in forums, I don't want to dig through thousands of "Star Wars TFU SUXORZ LOLOLZ!!1!" topics. I'm telling you, in the end, we only end up hyping our own disappointments. But as a Star Wars fan, I am a big enough nerd to take up that midnight release offer.

Not The End I Was Hoping For...But It Is The End, Finally.

One thing I've learned out of life: to survive it, you need endurance. You either endure the hardships thrown in your lap, or turn your back and accept something else tossed carelessly at you with no right to complain.

Funny thing is, as much as I've endured these past months, it has ended the same way as if I've turned my back and let the end figure itself out. I mean, I feel like I've spent all this time fixing someone's car, and in the end, they end up buying a new one, metaphorically speaking. I've wasted my time...and the ironic thing is, it wasn't my judgment that put an end to it.

I'm basically moving on at someone else's request. And I can't get angry either...I mean, can you really give a harsh punishment for two people thinking differently? All I am is just a "friend." It turned out all along that I am nothing more than a disposable distraction towards people who wanted to procrastinate the truth.

No one really listened to me. I put up with all this stress, late nights up trying to find a solution to increasing problems, for what? So I can sacrifice myself in the process of making two people happy? So in a way, this is truly the end. Not the end I was striving for, but a conclusion nonetheless.

I guess what I'm trying to say is, even though this goodbye is official, I still can't help but think it shouldn't have gone down this way. Like I'm missing a key part of this conflict, and no one is willing to give me a solution that can change the outcome...or, someone was intentionally preparing for this moment all along. Either way, this war is lost. I have fought for what I have believed in, and I have no regrets despite the aftermath. I have done everything in my power to try and keep this alive, but it's worthless if no one else is going to apply the same effort.

So this is how it all ends: not with hugs or handshakes, but backs turned and each other's presence forced out of our memories. I honestly don't know what to feel right now: grief over a loss, or a sigh of relief that it's finally over.

PC: The O.G. Of Casual Gaming?

I've been brainstorming this thought all day (which probably explains why I almost burnt everything I put in the oven at work) and I've been checking around, and this appears to be an original question I created on my own. Point is, people are going crazy about how casual games are selling like crack in the slums, and rumors on how the PC gaming age is nearing extinction.

When you think about it, the computer is the most casual thing in the world. It's a widely used and depended item owned by students, teachers, and parents. I mean to this day I see people playing Solitaire on their computers. Hell, I spy my own mom sneaking in a few rounds of Mahjong in between sessions of typing out grievence forms.

Then you have actual games: the first person shooter, the MMORPG, those "teach your kids how to read/write/learn" games, real time strategies, point and click adventures, basically everything exept a console RPG. In fact, most of these games were born on the PC. And when you can play a game on the same system you use Microsoft Works or download music, I'd say it's pretty flexible in the terms of "casual." Not to mention that there is pretty much a game for everyone...and tell me, who doesn't own a computer nowdays?

As for the PC era dying, are people really going to argue that World of Warcraft has millions of subscribers, making billions of dollars, the entire MMO community is as big as Xbox Live or Playstation Network generating (I'm only guessing) the same amount of revenue? In my opinion, PC isn't dying, it just didn't go mainstream like consoles did, and as such isn't widely advertised like a console game is. I mean, I seriously think the PC is in line with consoles: with games like the Sims, Spore and Sid Meier's stuff, these are games played by people of all ages. (Because I guess people of all ages love playing God...I guess.)

You can disagree if you want ( you all know me, I keep an open mind) but I do think that casual gaming grew up on the computer. I can actually imagine seeing some white collar office worker, bored out of his mind from tons of paperwork just subconciously procrastinating his responsibilities by playing those pre-loaded games on his computer. You certainly can't do that on any other platform.

Sick Again...Aw, Crap.

I actually saw it coming, too. The guy I catch a ride with was sick, so the few days that I was in good health, I was merely counting my blessings. But it's all good now. After sixteen hours of sleep, all I have is a runny nose and a sore back. lol.

Anyway, just picked up Mercenaries 2 a couple days ago, and I must say it's well worth the wait. (If you were waiting for it.). All I can say is, if you liked the first Mercenaries, you'll love this one. It's about as fun as GTA with the ability to destroy absolutely anything you see. My kind of game. And tomorrow I'll be picking up Facebreaker...what can I say, I'm desperate for a boxing game. And although I'm choking on my words for saying this, EA's the only one who gets it right. (Really can't believe I said that...and I can't believe how true it is also...)

Batman VS The Punisher (Fanfiction, Mostly)

When you think about it, Bruce Wayne and Frank Castle are both the darkest heroes in their comic franchises. Neither of them have any superpowers and still take the law into their own hands. But I guess what impresses me the most is how both of them push their vigilante ways to a point where the people they save question their patriotism towards justice.

The minor difference I see is that the Punisher is fueled by vengeance, and he's a lot more unstable and violent than Batman is. Which actually makes this duel a lot more sweeter. Wayne would most definately disagree with the extreme measures the Punisher does to bring justice into the world, and even see him as an enemy that brings more sorrow than peace. And seriously...what would Batman do when he sees the people he's trying to send to jail just torn to shreds by the Punisher? The conflict wouldn't just be about their own view of right and wrong, it would be about going too far.

We've all seen heroes quarrel before, but what's so dramatic is that these two are so much alike, except one tries hard to supress his urge to go over the limit, and the other one embraces it. These are clearly the good guys that fight the war against crime in ways that no other heroes do: normal people with a disturbed and tragic past playing the part of the misunderstood savior.

I don't know, it was just an idea I was brainstorming all morning. And the more I think about it, the more I wish Marvel and DC would merge together and make epic crossover battles. What do you guys think?

The Evils I Would Do If I Were Rich

I was with my friends the other day, and for some reason, we were discussing Bill Gates and how this guy is so rich, even when he loses billions he's still the richest guy in the world. One thing after another, it led to what we would do if we had that much money at our disposal...of course everyone would think materialisticly, but I'm the creative one: if I had all that money to burn, I would be the ultimate bastard to the world.

1. I would pay Richard Simmons to come back on T.V.

2. I would buy out Hollywood, and have every movie directed by the dreaded Uwe Boll.

3. I would have my money converted into foreign currency, and give it to the homeless.

4. I would make William Hung re-make Aerosmith, and have a radio station dedicated to that crap.

4. I would buy out Viagra and Cialis, and add laxatives to the mix.

5. I would buy out the porn industry, and cencor every video.

6. Hell, I would seize control of Sony and Microsoft, and switch the exclusive games. (well, to piss off the fanboys.)

7. I would buy out the toilet paper industry, then shut it down.

8. I will hire the most brilliant scientists to craft the largest, least-harmful explosive, then cherry bomb the entire sewer system.

9. I will hire a select team of brave astronauts to fly into space, and carve an ass on the moon.

10. I would buy out every greatest musician in the world, and pay them to suck.

Dark Knight, FINALLY

Yup...finally saw Dark Knight today, and I must say: Heath Ledger's performance as the Joker is about the same caliber as Marlon Brando as Don Vito Corleone: ICONIC. In fact, I have the feeling that the Joker actually stole the show in this movie.

And Harvey Two-Face's switch to the dark side was told in brilliant excellence (well, for a movie based on a comic) but the end was LAME. I don't want to spoil anything, but it was more of a letdown than the demise portrayed from Tommy Lee Jones in the old movie.

Which led to a very interesting question my mom asked: What if Jim Carrey played the Joker? And it is a damn good question: I mean, this guy's played his share of psychologically disturbed people in other movies, and his role as the Riddler seemed more towards the Joker than the Riddler...I don't know, what do you guys think?
