if ps3 lasts ten years I'll prance around mainstreet in tight little pink panties singing the "thank you for being a friend" theme song from the Golden Girls while having my face painted up like a mime wearing a santa's cap.

Why? Why? Why? I'm so upset my favorite sports franchise is filling their need of a go-to scorer/all-around versatile player that will help them get to the next level.....oh, wait, they drafted another big, energetic, offensively-broken player....I believe they have that void already filled with Ben Wallace....Thats all we need, two offensive liabilities on the same court...Jim Paxson, if I didn't have a sliver of faith in your overall long-term vision for this team I would be an angry drunken wreck....However, seeing how you have made great strides bringing this bottom-feeding ridiculous excuse for a basketball team up from the ashes i will give you the benefit of the doubt for the time being....It just isn't making this vodka/tonic go down any easier tonight...

I picked up RE4 a while ago for my gamecube used at gamespot and haven't gotten around to playing it yet. I look forward to the day I can, but finding time to in the real world (or at least graduate school world) out of undergrad is a rude awakening...

I play NBA2K7 more than any other game I own. Sports games are great, and are also easy to pick up and play without devoting a ton of time to.

I completely agree. Just a bit longer and the n64 will finally be able to rest peacefully in its grave.

hkmp5a2, probably the funniest sig i've ever read in my life. My roommates and I had a great chuckle at it. Hilarious! My only regret is not being able to personally witness it and read it myself in its original form. Thank you for making an uncomfortably muggy summer sunday a little better....wow...

[QUOTE="WhoaNellie32"][QUOTE="TreyoftheDead"][QUOTE="PhoebusFlows"]

People, I understand censorship is not good, it brings us closer to the censorship found in other countries. But Manhunt 2 just crossed the line of human decency. It's a tender line that some of us in society is trying to preserve, to protect children and impressionable kids who are the future leaders when we grow old. We are not like Iraqi regime tryingt o censor natural human rights like voting or political talk, we are just trying to exercise some control over the tasteful and good entertainments from the compltely trashy and useless entertainment.

snyper1982

PanicAtack already covered your first paragraph adequately, so I'll tackle the second.

Why is it trash and useless? Because of your personal morals? What about people who do not think Manhunt 2 is trashy and useless? Those people have the right to play it, just as you have the right not to play it. That line you believe it has crossed is very subjective. Even though it crosses it based on your morals, it may be no where near crossing it based on the morals of another person. What right do you or anyone else have to say people cannot play it when it doesn't cause you any harm? Because you don't think it's "decent"?

You don't have that right.

I can't even believe this post. I honestly cannot believe the audacity of this post. The people I think he is speaking (that obviously includes himself) for accounts for about .01% of the human population. What an incredible lack of GENERAL human decency and a perfect instance of extreme individualism. This level of ignorance on a moral issue reminds me of a day when I was in middle school and I stayed home sick with strep. My family didn't get cable, so the only thing on tv was an incredibly awful talk show hosted by RoseAnne Arnold. On that show, there was a discussion about some moral issue and an audience member maliciously asked another, "how do you know I've sinned? You don't know me. How do you know I have sinned before?" Even as a middle schooler this sounded like the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard. We are all human, and we have all made mistakes. It is a fundamental element of being human. It is a reasonable assumption that a 40 year old woman has "sinned' before...Reading this last post, this ignorance seems par for the course of that ridiculous show...

So, taking your stance, because everyone has their own "subjective" viewpoint on morality, lets never draw a line or think about the COMMON GOOD FOR THE MAJORITY OF ALL HUMAN BEINGS! INSTEAD, LETS WORRY ABOUT APPEASING TO THE SMALL MAJORITY WHO FIND THESE TYPES OF ENTERTAINMENT MORALLY ACCEPTIBLE (IF THEY EVEN HAVE ANY SORT OF MORAL STANDARD TO BEGIN WITH) AND GET OUR JOLLIES FROM THIS SORT OF SMUT BECAUSE WE'RE INDIVIDUALS WHO THINK IT IS OK, AND DESPITE BEING AN EXTREME MINORITY WITH (LETS BE HONEST) OUR OWN INTERESTS IN MIND, WE WILL OVERLOOK THE MANY MANY PEOPLE WHO ARE SUSCEPTIBLE TO THIS ENTERTAINMENT BECAUSE IT DOES NOT INFRINGE UPON OUR ALREADY SHAKY MORAL COMPASS....Hey, because we can, why not? Its up to the individual to decide if its right for him, right? In theory, in a perfectly organized society yes, but sadly, the world doesn't work like that. At the end of the day, an individual doesn't make up and dictate the state of a whole society. The better whole and well being of the society is what is ultimately important.

You act as if morality should cease to exist because...nevermind....i will NOT let myself go into detail anymore with such a...nevermind...

Get off your soapbox... You would take away our freedoms, as he is trying to defend them. He is saying ANYONE should be able to play a video game as violent as he wishes it to be, but you are saying because a majority of people(which you have no empirical evidence backing up this claim) think it is to violent, he should not be allowed to. I believe in the common good, but that is not what you are worried about. You would not have an issue if YOU agreed with this game. It crosses a personal boundry for you, that is why you take a hard stance against it. You are the worst kind of hypocrite. If you are REALLY worried about the common good, then you should opose all forms of violent media, as who knows how violent a movie or game may need to be before it causes even one person to snap.

1) I am opposed against many forms of over the top violent media-I do believe it is destructive- but once again, how you've failed to give any sort of rebuttal to my last statement, I'm not going to cover every single one of my bases for the sake of you nitpicking and pointing out info you don't assume i already know, understand, or accept. I'm giving my opinion on this subject and I'm backing it up. I'm not expecting my opinions to change the world. I do believe in BALANCE in regards to this sort of material. If this doesn't draw some universal moral law with the majority of people who are out for the common good of society, what does? It should be addressed at some point.

2)Not empirircal evidence? I've talked extensively on the basis of these psychological studies. There is strong empirical evidence suggesting a connection between long exposure to this violent media and real-life violent behavior. I'm not some amateur joe shmo psychologist buff who has read a Freud book and thinks he knows it all either, for what its worth, I'm going to graduate school in social and cognitive psychology.

3) I've got school in 10 minutes actually. I'm done with this idiocy.

*hope that extreme individualism thing works out for you ok. Impractical as it may be. I'm off to a rally after ****supporting congress to reinstate the draft! yippee!!
