I'm fine with adding a ton of non-gaming features. If you can do it than do it. But what I can't accept about Xbox One is the weak GPU. That's where they royally screwed up. If the GPUs were equal I wouldn't consider the PS4 at all.

Nintendo: Are you ever going to make something new? I know you like to think otherwise but the 80s ended decades ago.

Microsoft: Xbox One's hardware is utter crap. What the hell were you thinking?

Sony: Your hardware is also crap, just not as bad as MS's. So don't get all full on yourself just because someone under-delivered even more than you did.

To all of them: You're all gonna be screwed if an Apple or Samsung decides to enter the console market with a REAL next-gen console.

And yeah, I know I'm going on and on about hardware and it's mostly about the games, yadda yadda yadda. But a console makers first job is to make a great console. Making great games comes after that. Imo all 3 of them failed on the first order of business. Epic Games was dead-on when they said that next-gen systems should be 2.5 tflops. I swear it seems that these new consoles are a plea to us to ditch console gaming and buy gaming PCs instead ... and from the console manufacturers themselves!

The trilogy of Bioshock (And all the DLC) should be remastered to 1080p/60 and put onto a single Blu-Ray disc.

But I guess that in today's world of corporate greed that would be considered too much value for one disc. :(

And I'm kinda hoping that when Witcher 3 ships they'll throw Witcher 1 and 2 onto the disc as bonuses. Hoping so because I've never played the first one because it hasn't appeared on consoles yet. But again, that's probably hoping for too much.

Considering there's only 6 characters and a lack of game modes available that's actually a pretty good score. Tells me they like the core gameplay, just want the game to be more robust.

The hardware disparity is a non-issue for me; I know that in SW terms the PS4 is bigger and better because of a small advantage in raw horsepower. In reality though, I’m not going to notice it as it can only be seen whilst viewing the material side by side. Furthermore, some of the third party games won’t have any difference at all just like this past gen where some were saying that the PS3 was 1.5x faster than the 360.

As the article stated, I think this gen will be defined by the services we use. I’m really excited to see how the X1s app store is going to play out for example.

The disparity is 40%-50%. I think that's gonna be noticeable.

However, I do think MS will end up outdoing Sony when it comes to services and online.

I'm not sure that it is (HW wise), same thing was said about last gen and yet a lot of third party games ended up working better on the 360.

Here is a recent article on the HW differences and their real world implications.

Yes the smart money is on MSFT for online at least, Sony does own a lot of media content so they could make some killer moves there.

That was because of the complicated architecture of PS3. Cell was powerful in theory but rarely showed it because working with it is like pulling teeth. That ain't the case this time. Both architectures are simple. Heck, because it doesn't use ESRAM PS4's is probably more simplistic than Xbox One's and it's got the 40%-50% better GPU as well. It's gonna be evident this time.

My only big problem with Xbox One is the power disparity. Its GPU is just too far behind PS4. Other things that were issues early on they've fixed but they did nothing to improve the hardware.

But in any event, neither of these consoles are worth buying for at least a year. By then there might be something to play and most of the issues ironed out. Perhaps when Witcher 3 comes out is when I'll make the plunge. I lean heavily towards PS4 right now but I'd choose Xbox if the hardware were more equal.

Glad it never happened. 8th gen consoles are about 12/16 times more powerful than 7th ones, the same leap as in any previous generation.

12-16 times more powerful? Where'd you hear that? By my calculations PS4 is 7X more powerful than X360 and Xbox One is 5X more powerful than X360 (250 gflops vs 1.8 and 1.3 tflops). 12-16 times more powerful would have been fantastic (Heck, 10 times more powerful would have been) but it just ain't the case.

It was the same story this gen. Wasn't until Gears of War came out that people got to see next-gen graphics. There will be a game like that on these new machines eventually.
