$60 loss per console? Thats not good at all considering thats just the "cost of sales"

Once you take into account everything else like distribution, marketing, wages, depreciation....the loss becomes quite substantial and they will need to sell alot more games and online subscriptions to come out on top.

Every game sold does not = $60-$70 in their pocket as they will only see a small portion of that and even then it has its own indirect costs associated with the sale.

Sony is taking a big risk here once again. Considering these consoles are weak as piss, i doubt they will have the long term life of the previous generation.

Microsoft have learnt their lesson and are breakeven or might even profit from every console sold.

It's really not that bad. Both the current gen consoles were losing hundreds at launch.

no. Xbox1 will be breakeven or profit. PS4 will lose $60 on every console, they are taking a risk in being a loss leader.

I'm not so sure they won't be taking a loss themselves. Despite being weaker they're spending just as much if not more on their APU as Sony is. And I expect that $500 price to drop fairly quickly after they get their clock cleaned early on.

If the game giveaways with PSN+ are as good as people say they are that's quite a bit of encouragement not to buy games.

[QUOTE="delta3074"][QUOTE="Kaz_Son"] That sure came back to bite them. Lemmings are always owning themselves this way though so I'm not surprised. I still remember when they used to say PS3 had no games and that it was last place. Look how things changed also in that regard, 360 is now the one is last place with no games.Kaz_Son
360 has plenty of games and who said it was in last place? You can no longer tall which one ids in last place because SONY combine all there Console hardware numbers, let it go, it's so last gen dude:)

:) How cute, this lem is still living in denial.

I get a kick out of how many of you decide a console war "winner." Sony lost more money on PS3 than MS did Xbox 360. That doesn't make them a winner of anything. If I sell a billion consoles for $1 each and lose a trillion dollars in the process does that mean I won the console war? Lol.

Poor Lems, I still remember the day where they said Microsoft would spend so much money on them that they would have the best graphics this gen.

Davekeeh

Hey, I was one of the guys that thought that. Seemed perfectly logical. Sony was bleeding money and MS was bathing in it. I guess I, and some others, just underestimated the idiocy of Don Mattrick. MS always invested big in GPUs before. This weak-GPU approach comes out of left field.

[QUOTE="ronvalencia"][QUOTE="Evo_nine"] errr....cows are in the same boat re: stuck with a crappy GPU

. Im betting this generation wont last 10 years, more like 5. Well....I HOPE.

Evo_nine

They are both low-mid end by Sep 25 2013.

I guess both companies want to try and make money this time around. Sony is off to a bad start selling at a loss but Microsoft should be making a profit with each sale.

Not so sure about that. From what I've heard both boxes cost around the same amount of cash to make. Xbox One is weaker not because they spent less but because of some bad decision making and prioritizing.

[QUOTE="TheGuardian03"]Whatever the power is both of these consles are 10 times more powerful than PS3/360 and last gen produced some great graphics for consles.Evo_nine
x360 was ~250gflops so x1 is only around 5x faster

Yep, but they like to claim it's 10X more powerful. They justify that by saying it ain't just about the numbers but the efficiency as well. Which is a bunch of PR crap. The thing is 5X the power of 360 and PS4 is around 7X the power of 360. Both should have been 10X the power of 360 considering the length of the current gen.

People are always saying that Halo 3 is the best of the 360 Halo games. Well, maybe that's true for the multiplayer. i don't know cuz I don't play multiplayer. It's all about the campaigns for me and the Cortana level of Halo 3 is the worst designed level of any Halo game I've played. The rest of the game was fun but that one level was so bad some points have got to be deducted from it when compared to other Halo games.

Even if y'all don't care about it there's a good chance it's gonna effect things. Like I mentioned earlier I don't remember hearing about any dedicated silicon for those things like Xbox One has. If there isn't any I wonder how much CPU and/or GPU resources are going to be set aside to support it.

tormentos

NO..

Games make for it will use GPU and CPU,when the PS Eye is not there is not no resources been use, hell even if it is there i don't see resource been tied to it Sony build the system to have as low hit on performance as possible, which is why it has extra hardware, but is not only that is the fact that the PS is  not mandatory which basically confirm resources are not need it.

And in fact part of the stuff on the xbox one apu are for Kinect like the Audio block, and i am sure than of the 10% GPU reservation kinect also have to do with that.

Kinect has a chip for image processing the audio is done by the audio block, and any interface adition to the UI is done by GPU.

Translation: I won't use common sense until Sony announces it.
