Resolution is important ... to a point. If my choices are 576p with a higher framerate and 720p with a lower framerate then I might choose the resolution. That's because anything lower than 720p is pretty damned ugly. But when you're getting up there to like 900p vs 1080p it's a different story; the framerate is absolutely more important.

Low sales, lack of exclusives, backtracking decisions, dead peripherals. Companies like Ubisoft and Activision no longer use Xbox to show off their products, and they no longer give Xbox timed DLC like in the past.

Does Xbox matter to anyone, anymore? Discuss.

Must not be irrelevant or you wouldn't be posting a thread about it.

Speaking of Witcher 3 are they still working on big updates/patches for it or are they pretty much done? Keep wondering if they'll be able to fix the PS4 framerate issues or if that's here to stay.

With two upcoming expansions I doubt their done updating/patching. The only thing they can do to fix the PS4 is to downgrade the aspects they included after the patch that created the performance issues. However just earlier today news that a new patch is suppose to be released in October before the next expansion and will be "including fixes that will improve the performance of the PlayStation 4 version."

Created the performance issues? It's had bad framerate since day 1. What they really need to do is introduce a scaling system to the PS4 version so that the resolution decreases when the engine is under load.

Before that 1.07 patch its performance didn't drop into the low 20's like it did after 1.05. 1.07 introduced as much as a 8 fps drop compared to before.

Meh, that's the cutscene thing. Not talking about that. Since day 1 the game has gameplay frame drops all the way down to high teens in some areas.

Both of them suck. Considering what they could and should have been this is the worst generation of console hardware ever. We got an appropriate leap in memory amount and that's pretty much it.

Having said that I'm torn over which to buy first. Witcher 3 is the only gen 8 game out yet that I consider a must play. And it's complicated deciding which console to get it for. PS4 has the better resolution but the framerate sucks. X1 has lower resolution but the framerate is better than PS4. Which to get? Right now I'm leaning toward the X1 version but that could change if an update fixes the PS4 version's framerate. Once I have one of them and Witcher 3 it won't be a big deal to get the other right away cuz outside of Witcher 3 there really ain't much I care about. But I do intend to own both of these turds eventually.

I'm guessing no. MS drops franchises when they don't put up big numbers right away. The problem is they've created an environment where some types of games are not going to sell well on their platform because that audience isn't there. I believe that if they'd stop giving up on games so quickly and just plow ahead these other audiences would eventually join the party. But ya gotta be willing to accept some poor sales for a while to allow that to happen.

When Sony was in charge, we got $700 PS3s at launch. No thank you.

I'd rather have a $700 console (Btw, I remember it as $600) than the crap these companies released this time.

So the gist of the blog is PS4 needs to be the market leader because the Japanese refuse to buy Xbox? Yeah, that makes sense. Here's another idea: The Japanese buy Xbox and then Japanese games start appearing on it. They're not there because the Japanese won't buy it, not the other way around. MS was publishing Japanese games early on but then gave up cuz the console and the games would not sell there.
