Something is wrong with your link. Here it is:

http://ninjamoomin.seshn.com/xbox-one-where-it-all-went-wrong-and-how-microsoft-ignored-the-warning-signs-2/

I read this yesterday and I agree with a lot of it. Many people like to point to MS's policy decisions as the reason for it struggling (When compared to PS4) but it ain't that, it's the hardware. Poor policy decisions can be corrected but when you design your hardware wrong and release it that's it, there's no going back. The weak GPU and memory architecture were colossal mistakes.

Umm no. You can't store 6 gigs of anything on 32 mbs. That's physically impossible. You're clearly interpreting the tech wrong.

Also the Xbox One's GPU has 50% less transistors than the PS4's GPU despite having practically the same architecture. The PS4 is more powerful and no changes to the API can possibly make up that performance gap.

Please just stop kidding yourself.

Are we a PS fanboy much lol you are so wrong you can store up to 6gb of textures on the ESRAM using Tiled Resources have you even researched this at all? Not to mention with the new SDK kits going out it's being said to help in big ways showing devs how to use the ESRAM way more efficiant and faster and 1080p should be easy now. Also the ESRAM is going to be a major factor for cloud gaming it allows for higher bandwidth connections to work much more esily for cloud gaming. Do some research Wasdie

The guy linking to misterxmedia is telling other people to do research. Now that's rich. :)

@bforrester420: GDDR5 is not the latest and greatest though and has been on pc for years now. It's also on the way out and will be old tech in a year or two.

Yeah, but what he meant is that it isn't being used for system RAM on PC, just for graphics.

Consoles will never be as powerful as PCs.

I don't think anyone expected them to be on par with high-end gaming PCs since those cost an arm and a leg but they should have been 2.5 tflops. I would have been very happy with that. But 1.8 tflops is disappointing and 1.3 tflops is a joke.

Yawn. No matter what MS does with drivers 12 AMD GPU compute units is never going to be as good as 18 AMD GPU compute units.

Just don't get why so many people keep making out like X1 is crap and PS4 is gold. X1 is crap but PS4 is far from being a powerful console in its own right. It's just more powerful than X1, not much of an accomplishment. In the grand scheme of things they are both weak consoles considering they launched in late 2013.

I can't believe that Microsoft would design an eighth generation console that's too weak to play games at 1080P and that's barely stronger than the XBOX 360. There has to be a logical explanation for its shortcomings, which I think is its complicated architecture, specifically the type of RAM that it uses and how said RAM is divided (i.e. 8GB of DDR3 and 32MB of ES RAM). I think the XBOX ONE's current problems are analogous to the PS3's problems during the beginning of its lifetime and that the XBOX ONE will improve as developers learn how to code for it efficiently.

Having said all of this, I am no XBOX fanboy; I don't own an XBOX ONE, but own a PS4 and a gaming PC. I don't even think that the XBOX ONE will ever match the raw power of the PS4, but I do think that it will improve to the point at which it will be able to render most games at 1080P.

Essentially, I just can't believe that Microsoft, a multibillion dollar corporation which develops software and electronics, could make such a colossal mistake. It's simply impossible.

Even if you discard the different memory architectures X1 still has a big problem ... the GPU. It's 1.3 tflops and PS4's is 1.8 tflops. That's around a 40% difference just right there.

Poor X1 owners lol

This is odd though! Sure, X1 is not as powerful ans PS4, but it's still like 10 times more powerful than 360 and PS3. It should do 1080p60 easily.

I agree. It is puzzling.

720p and 20-30 fps was the standard for last gen. Why isn't 1080p and 60 fps easily achievable this gen?

Yeah, it is strange. As I said in my last post the GPU in PS4 is clearly more powerful than the one in X1, around 50%. But the difference between 720p and 1080p at the same framerate is 100%. PS4 certainly has a graphics processing edge but not by that much. Only thing I can figure is that in addition to the weaker GPU devs are struggling with X1's memory architecture as well.

Gotta admit that I don't even know what Toukiden is, lol. But for me the most under-appreciated game I can think of is Lost Odyssey. I would put it in my top 5 of all games I've played in the X360/PS3 gen. Every time I look at the metacritic score it makes me shake my head. Game is a 95% at the very least imo. It's a damned shame that Microsoft never asked them for a sequel.
