For some time now I have been trying to figure out how to set up my game room to appropriately handle the new generation systems and all of my older systems (Atari to PS2). The problem has always been that I want to play the new gen in HD but certain older systems look horrible on our Plasma, even with component cables (PS2 ). Id always been leaning towards a tube HD set, sincetheycan usually handle 480i up to 720pbut I have concernsthat the 720p images aren't as good as the flat panel models or the dlps-which is based off of what Ive seen on floor models at bestbuy and sears(if anyone has experience to the otherwise, please let me know).

However, I just realized that Im planning on putting an old computer in this room and I could hook these problem older systems to the monitor, since I know it is doable. While Id still prefer to have 1 tv that could do it all, Im fine with the monitor solution, however ebay seems to show alot of adapters that are vga to rca, but I cannot tell if they will work in the other direction. Anyone know if it will?

Obviously the PS3 allows you to upload a PS2 memory card with the adapter you can purchase, however will it let you then upload your data back to a PS2 memory card via the same adapter? If so, does it reformat your card and erase everything that was previously on it? basically I want to play my PS2 games on the HDTV without dragging my ps2 up, however I want to be able to then use the same saves on my PS2. What Id like to do ideally is not download saves to the HDD and just save directly onto the PS2 card from the PS3, but it seems that this is not possible.

My exact setup is I have comcast internet hooked up to my wireless router on the top floor of my house. The consoles are on the ground floor in the same room as the bridge, however the bridgeis about 20 feet closer to the router and seems to pick up a better signal than the PS3 does (I had even more problems with the connectivity when I was using the ps3s wireless adapter). I also know that the bridge is located in a spot with a better signal bc I used to have it next to the 360 (which is in the same unit as the ps3) but ended up moving it bc it didnt get a strong signal there.

While yes the bridge still does not get a perfect signal where its at. The 360 doesn't seem to have nearly the same problems as the ps3 in terms of staying connected and download times, and it too is connected to the same bridge (both systems are not on at the same time).

My PS3 seems to kick me offline all the time and downloads files at a fraction of the speed as my 360. I originally had it hooked up through the built in wireless adapter, but decided to try to hook it up to my wireless internet bridge (or whatever its called) because it was on the other side of the room and it was closer to the router, so nowthe PS3 is operating as if ithad a wired connection. Now this is the exact same hook up as my 360, which doesn't have these problems. Is there any known fixes for this problem.

Yes, get the HDMI cable but order it online. I just got a 10foot one for like $11. Stores screw you on them.

My only gripe abt the PS3 blu ray player is that it only works with RF remotes, so many standard universal remotes are not compatable.

1 question I have is do you need a seperate remote to watch movies or can you use the controller like you could for the ps 2?

I don't know what you mean by standard HDMI, but it accepts any HDMI cable you buy. As for the upscaling, I don't think it's the upscaling that is doing a bad job but it's the game itself. I will tell you one thing though, God of War 2 (playing it right now) looks amazing on my HD TV, so I would say it depends on the game too and how well it is designed.The_Gamer81

Regarding the cable, I just wanted to make sure that if I ordered any old HDMIcable off ebay it would work and that the PS3 didn't require a cable specifically designed for the system. And regarding the upscaling, did you play GOW on a PS2 on an HDTV? Because it looks pretty poor on my plasma, even with enterin gthe highres mode-andyes I do have component cables(probably at least partially because the image is just so much bigger than my SDTV), but Im hoping with the PS3 it will look at least a little better.

[QUOTE="Working_Stiff"]I just plunked down the cash for a PS3 and picked up Genj: Days of the blade and Resistance. This also brings my grand total of games in my collection up to 300. what a way to reach #300.aspro73

That is indeed crossing a milestone in grand fashion.

Well. Originally I was only going to pick up genji, since it was only $27 after the Edge card discount ( I was already spending a bunch of money, and I really was only buying the PS3 now because finances fell into line this month, even though I still have plenty of games in my backcatalog to get to) but that would have left me at 299, so I decided that I did really want resistance and it was a good way to reach the 300 mark. I think I made the right desicion.

Now I need to find me a dedicated gaming TV, which Ive been struggling with because I want the HD, but the older 3d games (ex PS2/DC) about half the time look like crap on them. Im hoping the upscaling of the PS3 helps some.

Oh, one other quick thing. The PS3 accepts a standard HDMI cable right?
