@digitalheadbutt: There's no way to prevent the AI being trained on anything, that's completely beyond the scope of possibility since there's no way to prove a given voice was used.

My point implied was that there are voices that are known and loved that really define characters and even when known voice actors pass away and a 'sound-a-like' comes along, it's never the same. For a lot of people that doesn't matter because the new voice is good enough but for others it can outright ruin the character.

So again, their only option is to try and find a way to make money from their unique voices going forward, or, like the farriers they'll have to find a new job. Probably still will but they can get residuals or something.

You can't put this genie back in the bottle, the open source options are out there, giving the government or regulatory bodies enough power to actually 'fix' this like the VA's want is somewhere between impossible and terrifying. Copyrighting beloved specific voices is pretty possible though, but probably also ultimately pointless.

We're definitely less than a generation from most other major entertainment jobs going the same way, as well as most programming jobs, artists, musicians, etc.. They'll still be around as hobbies and niches but the majority will be perfectly happy to tell an AI platform what they want and enjoy the tailor made fresh media produced just for them on the spot. This future is inevitable short of worldwide disaster wiping out all electronics.

This is just the modern day farrier situation unfortunately.

What they should be doing is getting their various voices copyrighted and work out deals for AI versions of them because that's the only way they're going to keep making money through it before long.

Gamespot is truly one of the least well disguised listicle add sites on the internet now isn't it?

Here I was expecting an infographic but I FORGOT THIS ISN'T A NEW SITE ANYMORE IT'S A GOD FORSAKEN SHOPPING NETWORK AND PROGANDA MILL.

I swear 90% of everything I see pop up now is just shilling junk.

Even if it IS something I might be interested in, I want you to know that I copy the link and trim off the affiliate code before I go to it, both out of spite and because my browser always says your link forwarder is malware.

Finally, Press X To Not Die is a real thing. A toggleable option.

"But if we don't add backwards compatibility, these dumbasses will pay $50 for all the games for a third or even fourth time."
"$50? Why not $80, it's a new generation!"
"I LIKE THE WAY YOU THINK. Now then, let's sue an 8 year old for drawing Mario in the margin of his times table."

@jenovaschilld: Don't forget reporting on sales days after they ended and reporting actual blatant falsehoods on the regular.

They need some PR guy to show up and try to spin this as 'temping'.
