This is article is false. The guy just saw the user tag Boomer Shooter, which are community generated. You can type anything you want in as a tag and apply it to a game and if enough people do it goes up the list on the game's descriptors.
Something questionable happened with the Steam awards.
Labor of Love, the category for games that developers kept supporting and improving for years went to Red Dead Redemption 2, the game the developers more or less abandoned after some basic fixes post launch.
Most Innovative Gameplay went to Starfield, the game specifically panned for being Skyrim In Space with zero new ideas.
Best on Steam Deck went to Hogwart's Legacy, a game that struggles to run on the Deck at all.
Outstanding Visual Style went to Atomic Heart, which DOES have some cool designs but honestly outside of a specific few areas kinda just looks like a generic shooter from any time in the past 20 years.
Best Soundtrack went to The Last of Us, a game that you can kinda forget even has music.
Every category had a really weird selection of choices too with several of them basically not having anything worth voting for.
Just seems like a lot of these games shouldn't even qualify to be in the running much less actually win them.
