@esqueejy: Let’s be clear here: Xbox ultimately doesn’t care where you play. They want to eventually have billions of Gamepass subscribers x $15 per month. That is their endgame, and as Netflix learned, you have to have content because everyone will want to start their own service and remove their content from Gamepass to do so.
@esqueejy: I have a Ps5 with 2 controllers and the Ps5 headset along with a 2 TB internal ssd, 8 TB external. 250+ games installed, subscribe to ps now and ps plus. I have 2 4k tv’s side by side and play cross-play CoD Cold war, with my wife, series x on one tv, Ps5 on the other. I am not influenced by emotion or brand loyalty, I just call it how I see it. Losing crossplay will suck. And I will have to buy a 2nd series x, after current contracts expire. Let’s face it here though, Bethesda wanted sold, and Activision is run into the ground, and Microsoft needs content for it’s ‘new’ platform. Sony was buying up timed exclusivity and writing into contracts that games could not go into Gamepass. It’s not a console war anymore, it’s a content war…
@esqueejy: you are so clearly out of touch with the console business. Sony’s stock dropped $20 billion in a single day, after this news. It’s not just one game, it’s CoD (the most popular console game every year that doesn’t have GTA released in It), it’s Diablo 4, Overwatch 2, World of Warcraft, Star Craft, Tony Hawk, and more -all console exclusive to Xbox. Diablo 3 sold over 30 million copies, for instance. Let alone, Elder Scrolls 6, Starfield, Fallout 5, Wolfenstein, Doom, Quake, Perfect Dark, Fable, Forza, Gears, Halo, Hellblade, Outer Worlds 2 and so many more. All these exclusives are just $15 a month and you get them on pc and streaming to your phone, tablet as well. It’s not just CoD, and CoD is obviously much bigger than you think.
@esqueejy: sounds like a comment and verbiage consistent with a slavering troglodyte. If this 20 million ‘troglodytes’ move to Xbox, that’s 20 million less console sales, less accessories, and battle passes/micro transactions for Sony, that’s $500M-1Bn per year. And then when they start buying Madden, Fifa or whatever else on Xbox instead, there is a snowball effect. I get your joke as intended, but how can you trivialize literally billions of dollars which will go into Microsoft’s pockets instead of Sony’s. I know it’s been an over-used buzzword/pun but, this IS literally game-changing.
If 20-30 million ps4 gamers got an Xbox and subscribed to Gamepass for $15 per month, how would this not be better as an exclusive? 20million x $15 per month x 12 months = $3.6 billion per year. Versus what they will get on ps : $40-45 per game sale +70% of the micro transaction money. Let alone all the people who want to get an Xbox for Diablo 4, Overwatch 2 or possible WoW port.
They should have the base tier include all 1st party offerings, and have an additional tier to get all the jrpg’s from squaresoft, Enix and big 3rd parties like sega,capcom, Konami and so on, since they’d have to pay for that content, it would be reasonable to ask more for said content.
Having to unlock the characters is what makes me want to play it. I have never been good at fighting games and this gives me an introductory casual way to learn to play.
