I absolutly refuse to believe that a record number of people bought this game in record time...purely out of hype.

bezaire2005

You are kinda undermining yuor own argument with this. I guarantee that Halo3 sold a record number of copies in such a small space of time exactly because of the hype. I am sure Halo3 is an excellent game but it has had marketing and hype beyond anything seen for any other game and that is what moves massive numbers.

It won't have a GOTY for a long time if ever as I don't think Gamespot is ready to have a GOTY which has worse graphics than 70% of the games out there.

Joystiq's poll, by the way, despite being a hardcore gaming site, mirrors Famitsu's findings.

bragac200

And everyone who voted in the poll is a Wii owner I am sure. Fanboys of other systems don't go to sites like Joystiq and they certainly wouldn't vote in a poll like this and the poll is definitely worded in a way that isn't supposed to reinforce fanboy preconceptions.

Considerign that 16 million of the Wii sales are Wii Play and Wii Sports, which are basically pack in games, all your data tells you is that wii owners will pay $10 extra for a piece of software included with hardware. I am predicting that Link crossbow training will sell really well and score low. Not a big surprise.

[QUOTE="gamenux"]

Nintendo may have expanded thecasual market but in the process alienated the hardcore market.

Is there any hardcore gamers here who is just satisfy with the Wii Alone? Most hardcore who own a Wii also own another console or a PC.

DISCUSS.

Coyo7e

The casual market is over rated.

With the most current gen systems on the market, MP 3 (I think MP 3 is a great game) still sold like crap.

They are selling systems but they need to start selling more software.

MP3 sold about as well on Wii as Bioshock (one of the top 10 games of all time!) did on 360, by the latest figures we have.

havent we all learned by now not to trust gamespot at reviews go to ign

anman4707

To be honest I think that Gamespot provides pretty good reviews in general, I am just not sure of their scoring. I only judge games by the actual text in the reviews not by the score they get. The review for DDR made it sound like a good but slightly flawed game, that why the score seemed on the low side. The 360 review makes the game sound like a good but flawed game yet it scored relatively high.

I just read through the review for DDR on Wii, and was kinda surprised by the score (5.5) relative to the overall tone of the review which had few negatives. I checked other reviews of DDR games which generally seem to score in the 7 range. The strange thing is that in the 360 review its stated that $80 is reasonable for the game plus a mat, in the wii review they think the game and mat should have been a lot cheaper than $70.

I can see the score dropping slightly from the 360 version, but this isn't a graphically intensive game, so I don't understand a drop of 1.8 points.

Because they are already games and then you make a video game that simulates the original game. And because the most succesful sports games are the ones which have all the offical players names etc, even though the quality of the video game shouldn't depend on the players names at all.
