I guess I always considered the reviews a critique of the quality of the game, same as a movie review. I don't really think of the reviews as telling me whether a game is worth buying or not.

I have definitely read movie reviews where they complain that the movie is too short, but this often a critique of the pacing or the general lack of character devlopment/plot. I haven't played Heavenly Sword but I can imagine that it probably doesn't fall short in the amount of story it tells, it is just short in play length relative to other games.

Just wondering what peoples views are. Should reviews take into account the length of the game and if so is it because of value for money or is it something else? Also should reviews take into account the price of a game? Would RE4 on Wii have scored so high if it was $50? Would Bioshock have scored higher if it included Multi player thus increasing the length of the game?

I kind of think that taking into account value for money in the overall score is a bad idea, as prices can vary but the game remains the same.

I think the Wii is not going to have on-line capabiliteis at all close to the other consoles all this generation. I don't care, my interest in on-line is minimal, but if on-line multiplayer is really important to you you probably bought the wrong console. I expect MOH to be a poorly made quick grab for cash game from EA, who I think are just looking to pick up the easy money by having the first on-line FPS for Wii.

Minigames? Kiddy? Party? 360? Enjoyment?

I will no longer be surprised if a bloodier more complex version of Bioshock is announced for Wii.

Oh, one more thing before I end this topic. Technically speaking, from an economy standpoint, if you buy a 360 as opposed to a PS3, you will be supporting the US. Microsoft is here in the good old US of A. chickmagnet_1

Technically speaking, from an economy standpoint, Microsoft has been taking a loss on each console sold and so has Sony, therefore buying a 360 over a PS3 is undermining the US economy.

Its such a strange game that I wouldn't go hyping it. It could turn out excellent, but the whole concept is going to turn some people off. I expect that it will end up with widely divergent scores at different places.

1) Judging anything by screenshots, at least wait for a gameplay video.

2) Anytime the terms "hardcore", "casual", "epic", "next-gen", "HD graphics" are used (even when I use them)

3) When people argue about things they know next to nothing about, especially hardware

4) When people want on-line in everything

5) All the freaking kids who know nothing before PS2/xbox

Not just win but Obliterate in sales.

Waggle controls for everyone? :(

If that happens I ought to just pack my Bags and head for PC land.

ButtonBacon

They use a more advanced control scheme in PC land as well I'm afraid.

The Krogoth from Total Annihilation holds a special place in my heart. Seeing that thing tear through an army of land and air units and a base was sick...buuzer0

Exactly what I was thinking

Math time:

New York to London direct is approx 5000km

5000km = 5000000m

speed of light is approx 300000000 (3E8) m/s

5000000/300000000 = 0.016s =16ms

Therefore under impossibly perfect condition, with no electrical signal lag, no passing data through routers, no reflection of your signal in your fiber optic line, just a direct perfect straight line between London and New York, there will be a physically unavoidable delay between your signal leaving your computer and it arriving at your opponents computer. This delay is what is known as lag, it is inevitable. You can try and hide it, and in some games 50-100ms is not going to matter anyway, but it will always exist. That is why people have resisted putting fighting games online as they are the ultimate fast twitch games and any lag is going to hurt.
