Is there really such a thing as finishing a game? I think every game I've ever played or want to play is still in my backlog in some form or other. :) Even when I finish the main story in a game, there are often a lot of other things I still want to do, or I want to replay with different characters or a different level of difficulty. Or it's a game like the Sims that's impossible to complete.

[QUOTE="rockguy92"]I don't plan on having kids (my thoughts right now).UT_Wrestler
A lot of people say that when they're younger, including me. But then I realized what a sad life I would have lived if became 70 years old with no family to call my own.

Er...you can still have family without them being your own kids. If you have a sad life at 70 (barring a lot of health issues), then it would be your choice and it would have very little to do with whether or not you decided to have kids earlier in your life. What about people who can't physically have kids? Are they just doomed to having miserable lives no matter what they do? What about people who did have kids, but had the tragic misfortune to lose them to disease or accident before they matured? Are these parents also doomed to having sad and miserable lives at 70?

There is nothing whatsoever wrong with deciding not to have kids and sticking to it if you truly don't want to have them. Many people just aren't parental material but still have kids because it is "expected" of them. These are probably the very same parents that will blame video games for their kids' bad behavior instead of their own shortcomings.

I agree with the person who said that it is important for parents to be good role models for their kids. If you are out and about doing all the kinds of stuff you hope your kids will enjoy, they are more likely to become involved in those activities. If you limit your kids to one hour of video games a day and yet you are playing video games from the time you get off work to the time you go to sleep, then the kids are going to (rightly) think you're not treating them fairly. Who cares if it's you who is making the money? You are still the role model, or should be. Get genuinely interested and involved in all your kids' activities. P.S. The "you" is general. Not implying the OP or anyone else in this discussion.

The rule discussion may be fun, but what's really likely to happen is all of these rules are just going to get tossed after the kid arrives and new games and systems are on the market and the time you spend getting to know your own children and their unique personalities. What's probably going to happen is you are going to be "cursed" by having a kid who thinks video games are silly and a waste of time and doesn't enjoy doing anything you like to do. All kids are unique. Other than just being fun to discuss, there is really no point in coming up with a structured rule set for your kids when they don't even exist yet and you have yet to meet them for yourself. Also, don't go by the game rating to decide whether or not a game is suitable for your own kids. Heck, I've heard of parents offended by Animal Crossing because the mole that yells at their kids for shutting the game off without saving could tarnish their sensitive ears for life.

I love my Wii. I use it mainly for the fitness-based games like My Fitness Coach, Golds Gym cardio boxing, Wii Sports, Wii Fit, and also Animal Crossing. There are other Wii-exclusive games that interest me though so I expect I'll continue to get a lot more out of it. I do also play games on my PC, xbox, and (as of this week) xbox 360 though. The Wii adds even more options. You can go to the Nintendo.com website and scroll through the list of games for the Wii and see if there are enough of them you might enjoy to make a Wii worth getting for you.

The Ultima series on the PC. My first was Ultima 6, went back and played some of the earlier ones, and then it all went uphill from there. I'd also played some games on the TI99/4A and the Turbografx-16 because it had an RPG I wanted to play. Mostly, I stuck with various PC RPG's for a long time.

[QUOTE="bekkilyn"]Question about getting the intel.... If an area has 3 intel items, do you have to get all 3 before you finish that mission and then it resets back to zero if you didn't get them all, or can you replay the mission again to get whatever you may have missed the previous time? Also, why would you need a partner to get all the stars? Or is it just easier with someone else? I still haven't played any special ops missions so don't really know how they work. I did see that they could be played either solo or with a partner though.MadSoldier

It saves all the intel that you've collected, so you can replay the mission as many times as you need to to get any missing pieces. Its also just easier to do veteran spec ops with a partner, killing 10 juggernaut's with only knives and explosives would be almost impossible otherwise.

I got 1000G about a week ago, i didn't think that the veteran campaign was as hard as CoD4, but some of the Spec Ops missions were alot harder than MHC.

Thanks! I'm happy to find out that I can go back to get the missing pieces. Right now, I've got zero since I didn't know I was supposed to be looking for them until after I bumbled through the single-player campaign on recruit. Being newish to this type of game, I've got a ways to go before working myself up to veteran level, so I suppose I'll worry about the 10 juggernauts and finding a partner at that point. :) Now I feel the need to go back and play the other games in this series.

If I'm not good at a game, that just tells me I need to play more of it in order to get good at it. Maybe I won't ever be "the best" at it compared to someone who may play only that type of game or someone who is a bit more of a natural at it, but if I'm enjoying it then who cares. For example, I just played through the single-player campaign of MW2 this weekend and I haven't played a lot of shooters due to playing mostly RPGs and MMORPGs on the PC, but it came with my new xbox 360, so many seemed to love and anticipate it, and so of course I had to play it right away. I played through in the recommended recruit mode, and wow, I had so much fun. Much of the time I had no idea what was going on and didn't really comprehend half of the storyline because I was so busy trying not to get killed. I'm sure compared to many who are more used to this style of game, I was terrible. I was just bumbling my way through everything and also accidentally shooting my allies along with the enemies. As the game progressed though, I was getting better at it, so the next time I play I'll bump up the difficulty a bit and learn more. Eventually I'll be good at this game if I continue to practice, so it's just like anything else at life. The vast majority of people aren't natural geniuses at all activities. Most people are great at what they do because they have poured a lot of work and sweat and tears into the effort. To other people, they make it look easy, but other people haven't seen all the time and practice they've put into it. If you really enjoy racing games, just keep playing them. Eventually with effort, you'll be good at them too.

I just looked at the note option in the calender, but it looks like you can only make a note of one brief line. I couldn't find any way of making the text window larger in the camera note option. This notebook app actually interests me since I had hoped there would be an app that I would be able to use as a scratchpad/grocery list so I wouldn't have to carry around small pieces of paper. I'm still thinking about it though. Not sure I want to spend $20 on a points card for just 200 points. Now if there was a scientific calculator app to go along with it, the DSi would be nearly perfect. :)

It will take a lot less time just switching to WEP and reconfiguring everything for it once than to keep switching back and forth every time you want to use wifi on your DSi. Also, when you switch back to WPA, it is probably going to generate a different key than the one you previously had for WPA, so you would still have to reconfigure everything again anyway, and then keep reconfiguring every time you switch. Just switch everything to WEP and be done with it. It really takes a lot more work to be lazy than to just do it right the first time. :)
