@dirtydyk: But not all sell in the same way. Either way people enjoy those films, so to say something like "You can count in one hand the number of actual good movies that came out of Marvel and the number is ZERO since Disney took over." is just not a very clever thing to say.
I will add that the superhero movies I like the most are the ones by Disney. Dark Knight trilogy are also there.
There are some misses? Obviously... yet there are very good/solid movies.
It was a massive disappointment. Not as bad as many try to claim, far from be good enough to be remembered in the future. There is some cool shots and some cool ideas in the background. But not enough to make it a good movie, and more importantly a good matrix movie.
Overall, concept wise and with all variables on display I would give it a 6/10. The ideas are not bad, but the execution fails, especially the nostalgia part of the movie.
We (the fans) love this franchise because of the characters, the mythology, the style and the ambience. I understand what they tried to give us, but as many have said, it seems a bit like a parody of some of the characters we love. Morpheus is the most painful one.I saw the trilogy again just to remember some of the feelings, and I have to say that Morpheus is probably the most cool character (for me) in the trilogy.
Then we enter the realm of the fight sequences, and dam... in the trilogy the fight sequences are great, the only time they show a lower quality is when cgi enters in the equation. On this game the fight choreography, while not bad, is average at best. And by "Matrix" standards that means low quality. Which is sad, maybe the age (which makes sense) of the main characters are not helping, but it is obvious that the problem is more profound.
My main problem with the movie is Trinity. I understand what they tried to do, I understand the importance of her character to the overall trilogy, and I understand the impact she has on Neo. But you need more narrative strength to make me believe in her last actions. A mother? Letting their children? You really need narrative strength, otherwise the connection is easily broken.
The movie provide me some good moments, some nostalgia and some enjoyment. I didn't love it, I didn't hate it, it was just a movie to see in the weekend. Nothing more, nothing less.
PS: And here we go with the agenda boys all over again... It must be painful to live your life restrained by your own mind limitations...
@Destructionzz: My interpretation of the game led me to believe that everything happened in her mind. Yes, she was a warrior, but she has mental problems and is a victim of abuse. Ultimately it is a story about losse and impotence. The inner fight for healing the soul of Shenua.
Thats why the last boss turns into Shenua after killing herself.
In my mind it all made perfect sense, but now this trailer is a major problem for me, because now, everyone is seeing the "monsters"... So I dont know what to believe anymore...
@Destructionzz: Just out of curiosity... What do you think about the sequel? In my mind everything that was happening in Hellblade was in Senua's mind. A battle about grief and lost... The sequel is putting my view in question...
