You all don't seem to realize is that this costs about the same as a 24-27" 1440p gaming monitor. How much did you all expect it would cost when factoring that it's two independent small screens with a high refresh rate and optical lenses? It's completely asinine to think that this would cost less than $500.

Also Vive will be a lot more expensive because you will get the wands, light room camera system and the HMD that has a camera for external view.

@dladz:

He maybe right but why should he blame a company that has to follow foreign commerce laws. Blame UK and EU for VAT which is the reason why it's more expensive.

@CrusaderForever:

What if you already have a rig that can run "virtually" any game that supports vr well?

Well if you only plan on primarily playing those games then it's a win-win if you can afford it.

@Stiler:

Vive is rumored to be more expensive than this, afaik, because you not only get the wands but also the HMD and the room cameras.

Pretty much the same here, mine will ship around April so more info about the Vive should be out by then to make a better decision on which one to get.

Except for video games, you have to pre-pay for them when you pre-order.

Actually it's more like Amazon where they won't charge you until the item ships. I like this kind of ordering because I can reserve my spot now and save up until it ships while also being one of the first to get it. Plus I can always cancel it if the Vive turns out to be objectively better.

Since you're predicting things, can I get the lotto numbers for next week and can you tell me who will win the Super Bowl this year?
