For those having framerate issues with Fallout NV you might want to try this, download this file :-

http://www.newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=34778

Unrar it to the Fallout NV folder (where you can find falloutNV.exe) then start the game up. If a message comes up saying "detecting hardware, setting to medium settings" then it means FalloutNV is using the new file proplerly. Now just whack the settings back up and you should find your Fallout NV experience a hell of a lot smoother than it was before. It doesn't remove ALL of the stuttering but it does make it a lot smoother.

I got that from Kotaku.com which to me is a very trusting site..although IDk how very trustworty is the site they quoted..I do remember Rockstar saying

Rockstar: "No comment" on GTA IV PC reports

devious742

I am not saying Kotaku.com isn't a trust worthy site and if they had done a first hand report that Rockstar had told them that there was no plans to do GTA 4 on the PC I would have believed them. The thing is Kotaku were just re-reporting what Whatifgaming had reported. I remember when Whatifgaming posted that story there were dozens of GTA fans scouring the net to confirm every single last letter of the report.

As I said no one ever found a Nick Hersh working at Rockstar, now couple that with the fact the name sounds incredibly fake and the fact no one had even heard of this site till this story, it sounded incredibly dubious and came across as a site making up news to get hits. I mean yeah if IGN, 1UP, C&VG or Kotaku had reported it first hand that is believable but really would Rockstar have told a "no name" website no one had ever heard off that they have no plans to bring GTA 4 to the PC and at the same time tell all those "big" news sites that "we do not discuss unannounced titles" ?.

So anyway I think it is fair to say the noises coming out of Rockstar about RDR are considerably different to the noises that came out of them with GTA 4. Anyway for those that want RDR the best anyone can say is that "it is still too early for you to hear news about RDR on the PC". I would wait to see what happens after Christmas

Rockstar's Nick Hersh, one of the associate producers:

As for GTA IV coming out on the PC, that's very doubtful as we currently have no plans to develop for the PC. We could only focus our efforts extensively on so many consoles at once, and PC might not see the light of day.

devious742

Yeah I am well aware of Whatifgaming's rubbish as far as I am aware to this day no one has ever been able to find a "Nick Hersh" that actually works at Rockstar. In short Whatifgaming made it up and they were called out on that at the time they made that statement. I don't suppose the fact the name "Nick Hersh" sounds very much like a certain female undergarment even gave the game away.

Has it even been a year yet since RDR release? They gave us GTA IV because we wanted it and Manhunt 2. Rockstar have never said RDR will not be coming for PC, only that their not planning on it yet which im sure they said the same thing for GTA IV.

mattuk69

As far as I am aware Rockstar has never said "we do not have plans to bring GTA 4 to the PC". The best anyone ever got out of Rockstar with regards to GTA 4 on the PC was "we do not comment on unannounced titles".

As to whether RDR will come to the PC that depends on whether there is actually a viable market for it (by viable I mean at least 1 million plus sales). We all have our pet theories as to whether it will or won't and they are all irrelevant. What matters is whether Rockstar can make money out of a PC version of RDR. I personally don't believe there is ENOUGH demand on the PC for RDR to warrant a port. If you couple that with the fact Rockstars rep on the PC after the appalling GTA 4 port is about as low as it can go it doesn't equal massive sales potential, but only time will tell.

If you want a "ray of hope" then consider this. It has been 5 months since RDR was released on the consoles (it was released in May) it could be argued it is still too soon for us to hear about a PC version. I certainly would say that IF there is going to be a PC version you won't hear about it till next year. They certainly wouldn't want to risk losing sales of the game and DLC during the Christmas period which they could potentially do by announcing a PC version now.

You have to love the "timing" of this annoucement, is it just me or does it look damn suspicious that they announce this now with most pre-orders done and less than 24 hours before release of the game.

[QUOTE="the_ChEeSe_mAn2"]Didn't LucasArts state that TFU 1 required a 3,000 dollar PC at one point?mmirza23
actually it was $5000 lol looks like they dumbed down this game to make us regular PC gamers able to play it ;)

Nope it was a $4,000 pc :-

Our goal was we wanted to get this game to as many people as possible. I definitely wish it had been possible. However the PC being the gaming platform that it is, someone with a $4,000 high-end system would definitely be able to play the Euphoria, the DMM and really technical elements of the game. But someone with a low-end PC would have a watered down experience, they would have to turn all the settings down and it wouldn't be the same game.Cameron Suey

Kinda ironic when you think the game came out on the Wii, I dunno call me picky but I find it hard to believe the Wii had $4,000 worth of tech in it. I got the first one when it was on sale on steam for a fiver. I wasn't impressed and never finished it so I don't think I will be bothering with the second one.

Not really on topic but I can't be bothered to do a whole new topic just to say this. It appears that Fallout New Vegas is now ready for PRE-LOAD on steam. So if you pre-ordered it on steam you can now download the vast majority of it so you will be ready to play it at release time.

Oh yeah and poor show to do a thread trying to fool people that there is a review out.

At the moment it is as dead as can be since Intel canned the whole Larrabee rubbish :-

"Intel purchased Offset Software to improve our game development knowledge-base and to further Intel's visual computing technology development expertise, helping the company offer robust products, support, and tools to customers. With the recent changes in our product roadmap, some of the resources and technologies from the acquisition are being re-applied to help support new graphics related projects. Additionally, other Offset Software team members have moved onto other external projects outside the company."some Intel dude

When you have a crowbar to do the talking for you then you don't need to speak :P.

The game was just designed that way, I don't think there is any deep and meaningful reason for it.

Why would they cancel it so far into the development process too?lx_theo

If I could read MS's mind I would be a billionaire, just because they are far into the development process means diddly squat to MS. They were pretty far into the development process of Alan Wake but that didn't stop them canning the PC version.

I am not saying they will can Fable 3 for the PC but right now the signs are not looking that favourable. First they announce it, they haven't shown a single thing from the PC version, not ONE screenshot nothing. Then shortly after it was announced it gets delayed with not even a hint as too when it is likely to appear on the PC. I don't know maybe I am "old fashioned" but that doesn't instil me with confidence.
