In terms of design this would have to be the ugliest Halo console ever! I love my minimalist silver Reach console - especially after seeing this OTT artwork. The graphics are so kiddy / tacky that I really doubt anyone with a remotely sophisticated theatre setup would let this console anywhere within sight of it.

@Bluebomber4evr According to broadband development charts within 10yrs most ISP's will be offering unlimited plans across the board. Eventually you will just be paying for varying speeds. WIthin 10yrs I think you'll see HDTV Smart "Computer / TVs" which will have 3 options.

1. Stream straight from game company (rented games)

2. Buy and play from your cloud storage

3. Buy, download and play from your TV's 100TB storage drive or an external storage drive located somewhere on your home network.

I personally hope that graphics max out sooner rather than later as that would mean storage capacity would be the only big requirement in future games.

@Norrie91 There will come a time when the graphics / resolutions will reach a maximum threshold. By that I mean the human eye is only capable of viewing x-amount of information (frames per second, resolution and colour spectrum). When all TV's attain max res (like Apples retina display tech) and all graphics intense games achieve maximum realism we have reached the maximum threshold. The only further development in game experience then becomes new methods of interaction or feedback sensations. The upgrade for graphics sake issue won't be around forever - or at least not based on the same way it happens currently.

@Bluebomber4evr He's talking about a 10yr period mate. I'd like to think all the main gaming countries are on at least 100mbps speeds by that time. Streaming - even in HD = no problem on 100mbps+ speeds. I also believe either Apple or Microsoft will invent a great solution for unifying all your DRM and it will simplify things greatly. Current DRM issues are caused by trying to come up with patch solutions on the run.

@Vodoo Hopefully not the case as I believe that you would have game service apps available on all TVs. Of course the better game companies may bring out their own optimised brand TV's with better graphics processors. The problem again comes back to wanting consistent performance amongst the numerous Gaming / Smart TV manufacturers in the market. I see the next step in gaming as exciting but similarly littered with the pitfalls seen in the current PC market of constantly having to upgrade components to get the best performance. Look forward to seeing the solutions the clever minds out there can some up with.

Its not trying to be the Wii U. I think having a smart remote with additional content feeds is clever and will add something to gameplay and the overall user experience.

@robertwarnes91 perhaps he was referring to current "rate of sales" figures in which case he would be correct.

@Miltonelite Console gaming as we currently know it will likely be over within another 10yrs. But standalone desktop PC's won't be anymore successful either. The coming revolution exists within portable devices and the much spoken of coming generation of fully integrated HDTV's. A true fully integrated TV doesn't need a plethora of external devices plugged into it... it has most services built in and for everything else you can update with near endless supply of applications in much the same way as phones and ipods etc. Before Steve Jobs died he predicted that in about 2 or so years the ability would exist to watch first release cinema films on your home theatre setup for a premium price. A glimpse into the coming power of the home TV. Gaming requires a screen, controller and really nothing more if you can get the gaming service directly into that screen. Jobs also mentioned having nailed the integrated TV... this, I imagine, would be something akin to the iMac (decently powerful computer built into a very large high quality screen) but a 42" or larger versions.
