@tajirinere Yes well the people who like artwork and journals have had more than their fair share of those. :P It was time to try to push the DLC a bit more otherwise too many people just opt out and the new maps are not sufficiently integrated into mainstream playlists.
@brylynt I think the approach is two pronged. 1. they know a decent number of people buy the limited edition versions already so making sure they have the DLC will increase the number in the community with immediate access to the DLC when they release. 2. Having actual xbox related content rather than journals or artwork is a brilliant idea for attracting people who want a practical limited edition rather than junk.
@da_post_office They aren't giving you the DLC maps from the beginning - your limited edition purchase includes the access to the 3 future map packs when they are released. Anywhere between 3 - 12mths after release most likely. The limited and regular version of the game will have 9 or so multiplayer maps already on it.
@inaka_rob Halo 2 limited edition vs this one was terrible value for money. All you got was a making of DVD, some artwork, a fancy metal box and not much else actually. This time the money pays for a decent amount of Xbox related content both on your avatar and in game content. IMO This is the first limited edition that actually constitutes value for money.
@gam3r2011 Most likely 9 maps in the regular edition. Every other Halo game usually released with 9 maps at launch and they DLC an additional 9 or so many months later.
@billnye69 lol - what is free two weeks later? The ONLY time Halo games have ever seen free DLC is when the DLC has either been already released for nearly 12mths or it is only a single map - as per the map "Cold Storage" in Halo 3. You'll be waiting a long 2 weeks if you think access to 3 map packs (9 maps in total) is A. coming in two weeks after release or B. coming for free.
