Once again, kinda like the PS2 and DS? I'm not saying one will win or the other, but consumers really don't care that much about which is more powerful, and the better system is the one with more good games, and the 3DS will have a long head start on the Vita on that, and a stellar 2012 line up.And by the time the Vita launches everyone will clearly see that the Vita is the more powerful and better system and they will sell the disaster that is the 3DS and trade it in for a Vita....

[QUOTE="darth-pyschosis"][QUOTE="FlamesOfGrey"] From what I hear the 3DS is already hacked. I'm not sure if that's true but the DS was easier to hack then the PSP.FlamesOfGreyFrom what you hear? Link to a story from a respectable site reporting on it, the 3DS can be hacked to pirate non-3DS software, but 3DS software hasn't been hacked yet to my knowledge. There is a huge difference. I haven't seen any big new stories on it and I don't follow game news reporting sites at all. I just remember seeing a thread about pirating 3DS games on a forum I was on. That's why I'm said I'm not sure if it was true. I expect them both to get hacked before long. Nintendo aren't stopping hackers and neither are Sony. Well I'm telling you, its nearly 6 months after launch and there is still no pirated 3DS software. the 3DS can be hacked to do other illegal things, but so far, thankfully no one has really got pirated 3DS software, which is the most important
The hardware is never a good selling point. People didn't buy the 360 for just HD gaming, they bought it for Gears, Halo, Mass Effect in the early years. And COD.People are going to argue and say the psp isn't dead outside of japan, that its selling. Well look at it like this. The 3ds at some point is thought of as being a failure (by the none gaming media) in the months it was released and after, and it was still outselling the psp which already has established a large verity of games.

I was thinking that it couldn't be software, because japanese games are being released outside of japan on the psp till this day. My question is why is the psp dead outside of japan? i mean its a decent handheld, but something prevented it from reaching higher levels of success. For retrospect, the old school outdated nintendo ds still actually sells pretty well. With the price drop of the 3ds, it looks as if its going to replace the dying original Ds models.
Anyway, how is vita going to fix the lack of intrest of the psp in the west? I mean surly the name change and the extra analog isn't going to fix the problems the psp had (what ever that may be)
Vita seems to not have any system sellers on the system, that will cause people to run out and buy one. i assume the hardware may be the selling points of the unit.
[QUOTE="darth-pyschosis"]Piracy. The Vita is doing nothing to curb this so far. Nintendo apparently has stopped all piracy on the 3DS for 3DS software. If the Vita can't do the same, which platform do you think devs will prefer in 2013/2014? The PSP has sold 2-5 million units the last few years in EU and NA. That's bad. That's lke 1/2 of the PS3/360, that's like 1/3 or 1/4 the DS and Wii in some years. FlamesOfGreyFrom what I hear the 3DS is already hacked. Ok, that's great it sold it to you. But none of those push units in large numbers to everybody. That's the facts. All good titles, but not near the level of Dragon Quest, Monster Hunter, Mario, Zelda, Pokemon, Brain Age, Mario Kart, etc. Dynasty Warriors? A system seller? Lol.Vita has no system seller? Guess it depends on what you like oO Some of my fav. franchises are launch titles or close to launch like Disgaea 3, Katamari (iirc), Uncharted and dynasty warriors oO

Kinda like how the DS wasn't better for the gaming industry because it had a lot more A/AA/AAA games and an overall better library than the PSP that both critics and consumers agreed upon?[QUOTE="darth-pyschosis"][QUOTE="g0ddyX"]
Kiddy games perhaps?
3DS will sell cos of all the kids buying em and wanting em.
Quality > QuantityGolden rule that the TC is amissing.
The Vita will do fine and will do BETTER for the gaming industry than the 3DS will.g0ddyX
The DS did fine and the PSP did fine but did not sell well as they were gunning for the solid core gamers wheras DS sold more and had a lot more games, was marketted properly.
Nothing the DS produced was groundbreaking or made peoples jaw drop, the fun did not last for me anyway.
I thought the 3DS would but there is nothing spectacular about it, the vita has potential.
The games are subjective, I enjoyed FF7:Crisis Core more so than any DS game.
On a side note...
Do numbers matter, or the experience matter?
With the power jammed packed in the Vita, who knows what developers will make. Either way, its a step forward in technology, not backwards.

needs more cowbell Needs more Mario............ ehhhrrr............ Glad I will be enjoying new Ips like Gravity Daze. Both the Vita and 3DS lack new IPs, the Vita has Gravity Daze, Little Deviants, that one Black and White game, that Army Hell Corps. game, and I can't think of what else. The 3DS has 3 new IPs from Square Enix: Bravely Default, Heroes of Ruin, Theatrhythm Final Fantasy. Also, Steel Diver, Face Kart, Gabrielle's Ghostly Groove, Kid Icarus is essentially a new IP since its so drastically detached from its 80's brethern. There are others too. I wouldn't say the Vita has the edge with new IPs, the 3DS clearly has that due to the fact that it has been out longer and the Vita ain't out. Also, the support from Square Enix for the Vita and 3DS aren't comparable. The Vita has some ports? Square Enix has three new IPs, a new Kingdom Hearts already for the 3DS lined up, and two more Dragon Quest games (one a sequel to a great spin off, one a remake of a 90's GBC title)[QUOTE="ms555"][QUOTE="i3DS"]

StarFox3D
Super Mario Land 3D
Mario Kart 7
Monster Hunter 3G
Kid Icarus
Kingdom Hearts 3D
Resident Evil Mercenaries
Resident Evil Revelations
Paper Mario 3D
With Luigi's Mansion, Pokemon, Bravely Default: Flying Fairy, Monster Hunter 4, on the way as well. Not to mention $80 cheaper and without proprietary memory costs. Best of luck to the Vita.
