idk if you know who I am but I"m kind of well-known for my predictions around here. I have to say that HL3 will certainly NOT be announced

No one said HL3. I just said a new Half Life game. Probably a prequel to 2.

Lolbwahahahahalmfao, oh god thanks for the laugh.

Okay. Laugh at me more if nothing happens by May 31st. Bump this thread and make me look like a joke.

Or I bump this thread and everyone realizes I was actually right.

Lets put a headset on that noggin shall we? Astro Bot, Beat Saber, Wipeout, and Lone Echo / Echo VR. Once you're finished with those games, you're going to tell me how much fun you had and how it was nothing like mobile gaming, and that you're very very sorry. Because that's how it always goes with these games.

Hey, I'm not saying other people can't have fun with mobile gaming.

I'm not interested in playing mini games, I had my fill of those when motion gaming was the trend of the day.

Who said I listed all minigames? See this is your issue, you seem to think VR is all about minigames even though I listed full length games with Beat Saber being an exception as it's more of a party game but still tons of fun nonetheless.

It's a hard sell. A lot of the games on it are either new ips or spin offs from a series which doesn't help it sell faster. Plus it's limited in the genres it can immerse.

How is it limited? List the genres that VR doesn't work well for. There are only a small handful that don't have much to gain, but can at least still work and gain somewhat - just not a lot.

VR sounds the same as mobile does for me these days:

absolutely boring

I find it hard to care about VR at the moment, since there have been no big improvements in 2-3 years.... not even a second generation of headsets.

I'm convinced it may make a PROPER resurgence IF GAME streaming takes off.... and you can run 2 instances (1 per eye)

Game streaming with VR is very difficult as latency needs to be under 20ms. It's possible, but a long ways off.

2nd gen headsets are still 2-3 years away, but that's because the tech going into them are much more than what you'd expect out of a normal generational leap. They're trying to solve many of the issues all in one go.

rift 2 will more than likely drop next yr. the tech that Oculus has for the 2 if they released it would cost way too much right now. remember they got the half dome plus the new display tech they been working on and just got patents for. streaming to VR is a long long ways off

Rift 2 is a 2022 thing, so 3 years from now. That's when they think they can get perfect eye-tracking and foveated rendering, and you can't increase specs much at all without that. But once they've solved it, they can bump the specs up hugely.

No, it won't even be the best FPS. Respawn is releasing a new FPS and the next Half Life is likely launching this year.

Respawn is not releasing any FPS. something third person star war game that will not be very good.

Half life 3 will never release let alone this year.

Yes they are. Respawn already announced they are releasing a new FPS IP for 2019. They have job listings for this too, and it's not Apex Legends.

The Half Life 2 prequel will release this year most likely (or 2020), not Half Life 3.
