So do we need 8K? Is it really going to be that much of a benefit over, you know, having a game be a third or a fourth as big and having plenty of room left in storage?
@lostn: It's a good point. Idk though, maybe this is something they will address in the "pro" switch. Maybe the joy-cons for it will be completely different.
Looks cool. I like the color choices, and the D-Pad.
No reason for me to get one at this point in time, but it's a nice alternative if you want a cheaper Switch to take on the go, or if you have kids and want to get them personal Switches.
Maybe later on I'd be interested, but I think for most current Switch owners we'll want to wait and see what's in store with the higher-end model.
@gzaface: I look at it as just fun differences. Like do you need a Larvitar to enjoy the game? No, there are probably a couple hundred other pokemon in there and likely several others you will enjoy. If you get Sword, well that's something you might wanna play with a buddy who has Shield to get, and if you get Shield you're guaranteed it will be in the game.
Same goes for the gyms. You fight a ghost trainer or a fighting trainer. It's a single boss battle. There will likely be enough gyms and areas in the game that your pokemon will be leveled to the right point to take on the elite four by the time you reach them. Does it matter too much who you face? Probably not, unless you want an edge or challenge against the gym leader there, or think one has a neater design or pokemon.
Personally I'm leaning towards Shield so far, but it really isn't a big deal which version I get because it's still the same game, with equal give and take to its rival version.
With about a month and a half til launch, surely they'll reveal the complete server list soon. On August 13th subscribed players can reserve up to three characters in advance of launch, so I'd imagine you'll be able to select your server at that point.
