@rawkstar007: Every Hitman game from Silent Assassin on-wards is absolutely superb, apart from Absolution. The only game I like from the list you stated is Half-Life. Sorry I just can't stand JRPGs or fantasy in general.

@Mogan: Indeed, God of War 3 was a nasty piece of work, though it made sense I suppose, since that story was nearing it's (grisly) end.

@odolwa99: The best of luck to you. If you were to force yourself to try and make a game you personally weren't interested in, the burnout would occur much faster and you'd hate what you were making.

Just be aware that Owlboy took ten years to make. An entire decade of someone's life... Plan and scale accordingly. Still follow your passion, but also don't lose sight of reality.
