@couchtater12345 Think for a second that someone on this site who is elementary school, high school or just starting university, sees this and then starts leaning their studies towards the fields of gene therapy, cybernetics or nano technology. That user could (at least potentially) grow up to be a pioneer in the field and save the lives of countless soldiers who are going into battle with or without the tech anyways. "False hype and sensationalism" may sound like a bad thing if you word it that way, but sparking the imagination of young people who probably have wondered whether or not the Spartan program was realistically feasible is nothing but good. The "not in my lifetime" mentality is just a cynical way of saying "I shouldn't even bother trying". Games/movies/comics and novels fuel dreams... science can make dreams reality.

The disney bit in the episode is incredibly funny- I'm not really a huge family guy fan, but a buddy showed that episode to me and it was pretty hilarious

@123biteme better bet would be to watch the Gamespot "The Story So Far" videos if you just want to get caught up on the story - otherwise, play them on your own time and maybe ACIII will be cheaper by the time you're ready to play it

Great episode, it'll be sad to have Escape gone for the next little buit- but the teaser for the first episode of season 2 of "what if machine" gave me goose bumps... partially because I'm in the military and would love me a set of mjolnir armour (ceramic reinforced bones would be pretty sweet too)

@arkryne Would it need to acknowledge Shepard's story if it takes place 300 years later? We really don't know anything about the game at this point, so it's hard to say- but if they set it too close to ME3, they'll have pick an "official" ending of the three choices. I'm guessing it'll be the synthesis ending as it was the one players had to work the hardest to get, if that is the case

@4love10 Doubtful, they tried that with KOTOR and it really backfired on them, it became F2P inside of a year

@CivilizedPsycho Now what if they said that after the first run of Batman comics? Halo 4 is shaping up to be the definitive FPS of this console generation and over the last few years the Halo universe's narrative has gotten way more interesting than it ever was in the original trilogy. Mass Effect (in addition to Halo and to a lesser extent, the two GoW series) has a cool universe that people like. If the Reapers and Shepard's stories are done, that still leaves a whole universe full of stories to be told. It is true that they have established audiences and markets that will likely mark a safer investment than untested IPs, I think writing off new ME, Halo or GoW games as being ONLY for the money is selling all of the developers that pour their hearts and souls into these games pretty short. The publishers are the suits who say "fiscal year change, we need a new Gears of War game"- but the developers are the folks who say "we have our orders, we have our budget... now lets make something special that makes a lot of gamers happy".

I'm on board with the Ken Levine/Cliffy B swap idea - The story for Bioshock infinite is very likely already done, so Cliff would just come in and throw in some cool gameplay mechanics and tighten up the shooting. Levine would then go over to Epic and (as mentioned) insert an extremely well told story into a game like Fortnite or (more likely) the inevitable Gears of War 4 (assuming they pull a Halo and do trilogy-prequel-second trilogy after Judgement). Sounds like a win win to me. Bioshock mechanics were fine, but Gears of War's combat is definitely more finely tuned and even though GoW3 was a step up, storytelling-wise, it wasn't exactly fantastic.
