I still fail to understand why they don't just make mass quantities of this thing. It has to be ridiculously cheap to manufacture these. I'm getting really sick of this fabricated demand thing. Ten per store? Those will sell out in minutes. Just make enough of the damn things!
@Xristophoros: I generally agree with your sentiment. Whenever I do use emulators I tend to not load an entire complete set of roms but just the ones I'm playing at that moment. Much more fulfilling that way.
But most people don't do that, and it does kinda take the "specialness" out of it.
However, I do disagree that a Retropie doesn't provide equally high-quality emulation. These days, a Retropie can easily match the quality of the NES classic and I dare say provides a flawless NES emulation experience. It wasn't always that way, but presently it is.
Expectations, people. It's all about expectations. So often, people build things up in their own minds far greater than they should have ever done. Control yourselves!
Well, the Switch is the hottest thing in the universe right now, and more than 70 million people already have a PS4. I'm not surprised about Sony being in third in December.
I'm just happy the industry is healthier than ever.
The game is fantastic so far. Everything is improved. Everything we liked about the first is back, and everything that sucked had some reworking. And the story is on point and actually present and coherent. Nice job Bungie!
@7tizz: I would mention the flaws in comparison with contemporaries but still tilt the review with respect to its quality in its release context. Philosophical differences here. We're not gonna agree. A lot of reviewers look at it my way, some look at it the other way. From the beginning, all i said was that i disagree with Gamespot's take. And i offered my thoughts. And i stand by them.
@danielsavage: Very true about it being more simplistic. It was "throwback" even then. Wasn't really trying to break new ground. Its actually what helped Crash coexist with Mario 64 quite well at the time. I adored both. Spyro was more Sony's "answer" to Mario.
@7tizz: Couldn't disagree more 7tizz. Because even still, the gameplay isnt bad. It is dated, but especially in the case of parts two and three, they're still very good. Of course, it's all opinion. But if you look at the 82 it has on Metacritic, it seems most critics do feel this type of context is important. And I also take issue with the movie analogy. Seems like you're talking about a reboot or remake. Being a remaster, I say this is more akin to the repainted classic car analogy. It's still going to drive like it did in the 50s, but it can be made to look prettier than ever. Modern driver's may have a hard time though.
