Although the levels haven't run yet today, I went ahead with the update.

I got an Amazon shipment in this morning. For you curious folks, here's a list of the contents, complete with graphics.

1. The X-Files - Fight the Future

2. The X-Files Mythology Collection Vol. 1: Abduction

3. The X-Files Mythology Collection Vol. 2: Black Oil

4. The X-Files Mythology Collection Vol. 3: Colonization

5. The X-Files Mythology Collection Vol. 4: Super Soldiers

Not a bad shipment.

Update - Nov 30, 2005

Not a whole lot going on here today. I received a few DVDs from Amazon.com the other day, and have more on the way. I'm down to zero pending, although I don't think that'll last long. Current Rank: Airwolf Current Level: 50 (5%) Submission Status: Accepted: 9517 Pending: 0 Denied: 103 Total: 9620

Nearing 100

I figured it would have taken me an entire year to hit 100 rejections, but I already find myself at 98 rejections, which is just scary. Roughly 60 or so of them were for likely valid reasons or from bad editors, but the rest of them were because of bugs. I sure hope they are fixed, as it's becoming more and more frustrating trying to contribute to the site. UPDATE: I just hit 100 Tuesday morning.

Update - Nov 25, 2005

Not a whole lot going on here today. I ordered a few things from Amazon thanks to some DVD sales. Snide, what's next on the bug-squashing list? I ask that you guys look further into the problem with blank submissions. I haven't a clue where this bug came from, it wasn't a problem several months ago, but it's really been a nightmare. Since my last update (Nov 23rd), I've had 10 blank submissions rejected, and I've rejected just about that many for other contributors since then. I consider 10 quite a lot considering the small number of submissions I've made since then. Somewhere along the same lines is the problem where some submissions go right through, without anyone (Editor or Staff) approving them. There's also the issue of contributor points and levels, which haven't updated as often as they should have this week. Update - Nov 23, 2005

I wasn't planning on making an update already, but I figured it wouldn't hurt. A few things to mention today, my semi-daily blog entries aren't continuing, as you may have noticed. I reached "Airwolf", which was the code name for the site when it was in development. Thanks to those of you who congratulated me in the previous blog entry, forum posts, PMs, and maybe even in this blog entry (we shall see ;) ). Those of you looking for DVD sales, might want to check out Amazon.com and Buy.com, which both have sales on some popular DVD sets. For instance, I see Buy.com has The Simpsons: Season Six on DVD for $16.99 You can't find that price anywhere else. Trust me, I've been looking. ;) They also have Season One for $18.99, which is similar to the price Amazon has, only one dollar cheaper. Amazon also has The Matrix, Lord of The Rings, and Harry Potter DVDs on sale, for half price, which is great. I've never seen LOTR, but it's obviously rather popular among some people. King of the Hill is also on sale if you like that show, 50% off the first four seasons, and the fifth season is 30% off, and it just came out. I wish CSI was on sale for 50% off, as they are asking far too much for their DVD sets, for all three CSI series'. Two bugs were fixed thanks to cooncesean. The phantom editor queue bug was fixed, as was a problem with episode numbering conflicts. Hopefully, one day we'll get our Episode Renumbering Tool back. (please?) I picked up a new guide in the past few weeks, The Three Stooges Show. There's a lot to add and fix, but I haven't put much time into it yet, as my priorities are elsewhere at the moment. I can't think of anything else to mention, I went on far longer than usual as it is. Current Rank: Airwolf Current Level: 50 (1%) Submission Status: Accepted: 9243 Pending: 90 Denied: 80 Total: 9413

Update your Flash player for Security Reasons

For those of you still using Flash version 7, it's time to update. There seems to be various security threats in the old version, so update! This comes after public pleas by both Microsoft and Macromedia (Macromedia makes Flash). To check what version of Flash you are running, check out this page on Macromedia's site. For the latest version, it should say "You have version 8,0,22,0 installed". To download the latest version, go here. If you're using Internet Explorer, it's pretty quick and simple, click a few buttons and you're set. If you use Firefox, as I do, there's another step or two, which makes you download the file to your PC, and install it that way, instead right through the web browser. If you're using Adblock in Firefox, go into the Adblock options and disable "Obj-Tabs" before you install it. You'll also have to leave it disabled, as this causes some problems when viewing Flash files on the web (you can't actually see the Flash at all, lol). I updated my Flash yesterday because of the security risks, and I'd recommend you do the same.

DVD Sale Notice

With so many TV shows on DVD now, I'm always looking for big sales on DVDs. I noticed DDD is having their sale for the next week or so. Their prices are usually competitive with that of Amazon.com, but DDD is taking an additional 20% off. This is a pretty nice deal, so get your credit cards ready. ;) BTW, to get the 20% off discount, use the coupon code "dvdtalk" when you're viewing your cart. There's a little place for it.

Update - Nov 11, 2005

The Golden Boy emblem looks much better than this silly Swizzle-Bird one. To the staff, please change the way points are awarded to cast/crew entries in episodes. Instead of getting points per submission, you should receive points per name. This has been suggested at least five times in the forums and blogs, from what I've seen, and I think it's the right way to go. With today's updates, I wonder if the weekends will update. Last weekend saw one update, instead of two, so we'll see how it goes this time around.
