It seems to me as though there isn’t any excitement or hype around this game. It looks painfully mediocre. I smell a dud.

@presidential: Ha, at least you admit it. Retro and next-gen can, and should, exist at the same time. The more variety, the better. I like a lot of different kinds of games and I certainly appreciate the latest and greatest AAA games, but those games cost millions to make. Indie developers can’t afford that, so they tend to go for creativity, retro, uniqueness, fun factor, bang for your buck, etc. Things that a lot of AAA developers don’t execute very well anymore, unfortunately.

@presidential: Retro games are a thing and they are actually a booming trend right now. Most of them are only on PC, but a lot of them make their way to consoles also. There’s a lot to be said about old school games and how enjoyable and unique they still are today. Younger people probably won’t be interested in this stuff, though.

I think this game looks fun, plain and simple. Doesn’t need to be flashy. I’ll definitely give it a whirl when it releases.

The game looks interesting and I love the destruction. No competitive FPS has done destruction right, since Bad Company 2. However, watching gameplay for this and seeing people dump 3 or 4 magazines into a guy to kill them, coupled with hyperactive game speed. Absolutely hard pass.

@treechopper88: You can’t be serious. If you’re using DLSS3 frame generation, then you’ll never be getting less than 60fps, unless you’re trying to game in 8k or beyond.

DLSS is incredible, yeah. And DLSS 3 is twice as incredible. My only gripe is that RTX 3000 owners can’t use it. That’s plainly scummy when they just finished pushing sales of the 3000 series and then turned around and said, “oh, sorry, you won’t be able to use any updated features or technologies for the card you just bought. Thanks for wasting your money on an RTX 3080 TI, though. Now you need to buy our shiny 4000 series if you want any further support, such as DLSS3.”

@nilsdoen: All of that can be said about the original as well, except the original was fairly snappy. At least the remake doesn’t have tank controls. Maybe there will be a mod on PC that makes the controls snappier. Either way, it sounds like an impeccable remake. They badly needed to nail this one and it seems as though they did it more than justice. I’m stoked.

I’m not even a big Tekken fan, but I’ll never forget Paul from Tekken 2 (the only Tekken game I’ve played). This has to be one of the worst remodels for an established character that I’ve ever seen. One can only hope that there will be a costume for the original look. I’m sure you’ll conveniently have to pay for it separately, though.

I’m a little torn on Bella as Ellie in season 2. Ellie grows up a lot from Part 1 to Part 2 and she matures a lot as well. Season 2 will require Bella to have much more serious acting chops to continue doing Ellie justice. She absolutely nailed young Ellie, but we’ll see if Part 2 translates as good. I hope she’s nails it again, but time will tell.

I’m extremely happy to hear that they ditched the completely open world and decided to focus more on actual gameplay. I’m beginning to have a strong distaste for open world chore-a-thons. I don’t want to be mind numbingly bored and uninterested when i play a game.

I’ll take a tightly focused, more linear game 10 times out of 10. It is possible to have an open world game also be tightly focused with actual rewarding exploration and well written, interesting, worthwhile side missions that have a real purpose. It’s just that almost every open world game, these days, fails to achieve such feats or any feat at all other than mindless grinding, empty space and fetch quests.

I’ve said it a handful of times now, I’m all in for Dead Island 2. It looks like heaps of fun for a zombie game.

@doublem-k: I tried the PS4 version on my PS5 (my PS5 broke and will only play PS4 games now) and even the PS4 version isn’t blurry and runs at 60fps on PS5. It’s a bit pixelated, but not what I would call super blurry. It’s not very blurry at all. I can’t imagine the PS5 version looking worse. It would look better if anything.
