I don't know what these gaming execs are smoking when insist on converting everyone's prices to USD. Its absurd. That's not how international business works.

You do not just take a price then convert it to USD and then force everyone to pay the price. They are literally trying to jack up Canadian prices from 50 to 70 in one clean sweep. LOL Does anyone at Sony have a business degree? That's a huge market to lose to Microsoft.

You cannot just take one price do a simple google currency conversion and say there that's what you pay in your country.

I travel to Europe all the time, and I can say that cigarette cost chump change in Europe compared to N. America, I can get a pack of cigs in some parts Eastern Europe for like 1.50 USD, and can get a bottle of coke in some places in Asia for like 20 cents USD.

Its called global economy you charge each region according to what the market in the region can bear, not what the US market can bear. Hell if you charged USA prices for the same Cell Phone services in Asia you'd be out of business in 2 days, and if coke charged USA prices all over the world, half the world would need to fork out half there daily salary for a can of soda, and nobody would be drinking coke.

Get with the global economy Sony.

Just my 2 cents.

@joshrmeyer: Exactly every region is different you don't charge USA prices for every country in the world. If they did that a bottle of Coke would cost an entire day of wages for people in Nigeria.

Every region is different that's why company's price things according to region they don't just make one USA price and force everyone around the world to pay that price.

I can buy a pack of Marlboro Cigs in most of Eastern Europe for like 1.50 USD, doesn't mean I can get the same cigs in the USA for 1.50.

You're saying that you set one USA price and you just change it according every countries exchange rate. If you did that nobody in Poland, or Portugal or Ukrain would ever buy another pack of cigarettes again.

Canadian earn Canadian dollars, you can't just jack up the price from 50 bucks to 70 and expect them to pay it, they'll just cancel it and use Xbox Live instead.

@joshrmeyer: They are undercharging in Canada obviously. Same way Coke undercharges for their soda in some parts of the world. I've bought coke for like 20 cents a bottle in some countries.

You charge what the market can bare, not what the US market can bare.

According to you some people would literally be paying their entire day of salary for a bottle of coke some places in the world. If they charged in US currency exchange.

@suicidesn0wman: I've been to places around the world where I literally was able to get a bottle of coke for like 20 cents USD.

You cannot just take 1 price and make it the same globally, that's not how things work in business.

Lets say Joe makes 100 usd a day in USA, I can sell Joe a bottle of coke for 2 dollars.

Lets say Mabuntu makes 2 usd a day in Nigeria, can I sell him a bottle of coke for 2 dollars?

You see how taking one price and making it global doesn't work? Considering I'm only paying Mabuntu 2 dollars a day in Nigeria where as I'm paying Joe 100 a day in USA.

I think its a very simplistic notion to believe you can simply take 1 price and adjust for global currency trends and sell that item or service for the same price all over the world.

Cell phone services for one vary globally drastically in prices, you charge what the market can bare, not what the US market can bare.

@gunpackingcows: For Asia I'm only talking about live action no animes.

All Live action shows in Asia (China, Korea, Japan, Mayay, etc, _) have always been 1 season one story, one show.

If Asians can do it, Americans can do it.

Also Americans learned serialized drama where one episode leads to the next, from Asia. Asians pioneered this serialized form of live action series dating back to the 80s.

American simply took their old season based shows and adapted so that each episode leads to another rather than each being self contained, but they forgot to adapt to the fact that all Asian shows have an ending. This is the most crucial part.

You must have an ending, or people stop watching. Simple as that, nobody wants to dedicate time to something with no perceivable end.

The ending is the most crucial part of any story. Neglect that and you have nothing.
