@gunpackingcows: Yes, Asians got the idea from soaps, yes, buts Soaps like everything in American never ends, just keeps going until nobody wants to watch anymore. It seems to be a big thing in America to just keep going until nobody wants to watch anymore.
The way the Asian system works is that they adapted to the American soap, but instead of pitching a show that never ends, producers would pitch a full story, like a movie and based on how popular the actors that attached are, and the director and screenwriter, the network would say ok, we'll take this show, but we only want 32 episodes.
So based on how many episodes the networks want, the producers begin to work backwards and build the entire story around the set amount of episodes the network ordered.
This ensures that all shows have an ending and are designed from scratch to end at a very specific episode, which tightens up the entire plot structure, you are no longer making crap up as you go, but you are aiming at ending on one specific episode.
Its just a matter of time before Americans adapt to this method, because as more and more new shows fail they will have no choice but to adapt. As audiences realize that they are not guaranteed an ending on their time investment, they will stop watching, and America will need to adapt.
Asians have used this system of serialized TV series since the early 80s, and have never looked back. The system works.
Because you and I both know that we all want an ending to our time investment.
@ArabrockermanX: They're living in the dinosaur ages with their ridiculous global pricing. And they complain that their sales are down. Get with globalization.
If Sony ran Coca-Cola, some poor African kid would need to save for one whole year just to get a can of pop. And only the richest man in Ukraine would be able to smoke a pack of Marlboros.
@pyro1245: Remember NX is also handheld, so its looking more and more enticing after all.
Since consoles are just DRM riddled PCs nowadays, the NX is looking more and more inviting, a mobile Tablet that plays all my home games and docks to play off my TV when I get home from work.
Looks like Nintendo might have just made the right choice after all. All we need next Gen is a 4K PC and an NX.
@Ripper_TV: Where the hell is this 35 nearly every week sales coming from. Getting a stolen card from uncle Wang's Chinatown back alley store don't count.
