@Tangsta03: Hayter is awesome cause he realized that Kojima is shitty b-movie hack and he realized that MGS is a complete joke, so he played it as a joke character. Thank God he did.
Can you imagine any man trying to be serious with the shit scripts that they were given. Oh, yeah, that would be Sutherland, which explains why there is only 20 lines of dialogue in MGS V. He probably rejected the rest of the garbage that Kojima gave him.
Hayter worked with the trash that was given him, and he made it work.
How any actor can take a character seriously, when your nemesis, is a Romanian Vampire Man, a fat guy in skates, a president in Octopus suits. Can you explain how any actor can play that crap straight?
@Tangsta03: John Carpenter own's the rights fool. If he doesn't wanna sue he doesn't sue. It was one man's choice to make, and Kojima got lucky.
Carpenter didn't sue cause Kojima kissed his arse like a true champ. And back in those days, nobody gave a flying hoot about gaming, it was considered a joke industry. Why sue a joke industry.
It's like Hollywood suing the porn industry for infringement. Movie was considered an elite industry that looked own on gaming, so why would they sue. Its only recently that gaming became legit.
@Tangsta03: Burn bridges, Kojima will never have anything to do with MGS ever again. He's already burnt that bridge. Hayter is creating bridges if anything by dissing Kojima, since Konami hates Kojima.
Also, nobody gives a flying hoot about the Japanese VA of MGS, Hayter is Snake, cause he didn't take it seriously.
How anybody can take fighting presidents in octopus suits and fighting men riding fire unicorns seriously is beyond. I hate to meet the idiot who can take that serious.
MGS is a cheesy b-movie, and Hayter rolled with it and made it his cheesy b-movie.
Hayter was what made Snake great, he played it light, he made inside jokes, and he didn't take Kojima's nonsense script of US presidents dressing like octopuses seriously. Sutherland played it straight and more or less does what Sutherland always does which is fall back to his Jack Bauer character from 24.
There was little to no endearing factor to Sutherland's snake, aside from it being a straight Jack Bauer rip off, without the great Jack Bauer lines. Hayter made the role, cause Snake and MGS is a cheesy B-Movie written by a cheesy Japanese B-movie director, and Hayter understood this so he gave you a role that matched the cheesy source material. As soon as you put a serious no nonsense actor into a role where grown men ride fire unicorns, it all goes to shit.
The fact is Kojima is a low brow b-movie director, and Hayter understood this so he played it that way, and it worked.
It all falls apart when Kojima starts to try to be high brow, and starts trying make a serious game about serious issues with serious actors. Yet you still have men riding fire unicorns.
Hayter was the best Snake, cause he played it as a joke.
@Tangsta03: Have you ever played ANY of the old MGS games. Snake is humorous, he's witty, he realizes that he is part of a stupid game where men fight giant robots and bosses walk around dressed like octopuses.
Hayter was what made Snake great, he played it light, he made inside jokes, and he didn't take Kojima's nonsense script of US presidents dressing light octopuses seriously. Sutherland played it straight and more or less does what Sutherland always does which is fall back to his Jack Bauer character from 24.

If you think for a moment that the choice was good, you need to actually play some MGS games.
Face it, Kojima is a low brow b-movie director, and does not work when placed along side real actors.
P.S You do NOT pay HOMAGE without giving the source material its due credit. The fact that Kojima steals and pretends its his own is a mark of douchebaggery.
