@cfscorpio: To be fair, Forza has always been the Xbox showcase title because it only has to render 50% of the normal amount of bits since the top half is an empty skybox with a static picture. There is no atmosphere simulation in the sky like you see in most all AAA open world games. Even Destiny has an evolving and changing sky to factor into the processing cycles.

It's cheating but effective and rarely do they ever get called out on it because the typical xbox fanboy only gushes over the chrome on the cars.

@rasterror: The 1070 is about 6TFLOPS on it's own but no one can run games on a video card alone. But to factor in the entirety of the hardware involved to add up to 6TFLOPS you must drop the performance of the GPU and add in the CPU and Memory. But on another point, the cost of the 1070 and the X1 gamepad would be equal to the XoX, you just don't have the means to do anything without all the other hardware.

Yes, the XoX is a bargain. I just wish the dumbasses out there would see it but with little education that will never happen.

I don't think Sony gamers care because the online community is large enough for it not to matter. Microsoft took extra steps to get this feature into place when they were at rock bottom and the laughing stock of gaming community. Now that things are looking a lot better and the prospect of having a serious threat to the PS4 Pro on the market, it's just the over Inflated Ego of Sony keeping this union from happening. Whatever shady theories people have on why Microsoft is doing it, and there are reasons to believe arterial motives are behind it, as they are everything they do, it's still a disservice to gamers to not have wider access to a player base if it were to exist.

Plus pony's and bots hate each other, why would they even want to play online together. Can you image how toxic the chat channels would be? Screw that.

@romeothebeast: There will forever be that 1% that insist they can do better or know something everyone else doesn't know or thinks they can do things no one else can do. The majority of the gaming public want either convenience or to do it themselves. And if you break that down further the do-it-yourselfers rarely want to skimp. There is an entire culture around PC building, I've been building PC's for 20 years. No way in hell will I buy used shit off eBay for my entire build no matter how badly I wanted to save money. Those out for convenience have no interest in the desperate act of nickel and diming for pieces parts and will buy pre-built, hence the Alienwares and the Aorus' out there.

Sure you can use a certain level of trickery to fudge a "4K" pc but it's going to lack in too many other areas to be a valid everyday use gaming machine. Proving a theory of "what if" is just that. You don't build a car under that concept and then use it for your daily commute.

Well... it's indisputable. After reading through this comments section it's decided. The very best option for 4K gaming, instead of just getting the XoX which is already optimized and fully warrantied, it is best to scrounge the cheapest used obsolete garbage you can find on ebay with no warranties and get your software from shady characters that you can't trust. All this brilliant advice and work to piece together some Frankenstein PC with obsolete and near end of life parts will indeed get you a reliable 4k gaming pc for $20. You're all correct, the XoX is a ripoff.

Seriously, I can't believe the level or moronic people in the world.

It would cost well over double the consoles asking price to build a PC capable of the what the XoX is supposedly capable of. A video card alone capable of 4k/60 with medium settings is already nearly the cost of the console.

Here is a modest solution:

GPU GTX 1060-6GB"4.4TFLOPS ($300), Case ($40), motherboard ($120), power supply ($50), X1 gamepad ($50), UHD Bluray drive ($130) Win10 OS ($110), 8GB DDR4 Memory-Speed? ($60), AMD Ryzan chip Cores?Frequency? ($220), 1TB Hard Drive ($70). Add all the components together and it may be roughly around 6TFLOPS considering some overclocking here and there. If you want mini itx, expect to pay more for a few items.

We're at $1150! Did I forget anything? You can't use conventional PC hardware either because the SoC is custom and the system board is also custom with GDDR5 memory not available at retail all with a custom tuned configuration specific for the DX12 api. You would in fact have to have better hardware than I even quoted to get bit for bit performance as the XoX is tuned a certain way because the operating frequencies of the gpu, memory and CPU will not match retail stuff.

So yeah, $500 is a steal and you bitches need to pipe down. I am not a huge fan of Microsoft but reality is reality and to obtain 4k or near 4k 30 or 60 you MUST have some horsepower and there is no way to build a PC for less than I just stated to get the same performance. I'm sure some know it all could spend a few more minutes hunting down more and cheaper hardware options but I believe the point has been made.

There is a supreme level of convenience getting PC quality graphics on a self contained and whisper quiet device with it's own built in U.I. If you prefer disks then there's that luxury too, a luxury you are not afforded on PC as once you enter your game code the game is lost forever, never to be retrieved for trade or selling nor gifting. Digital content has no value and is not an asset unlike disc based gaming, which luckily consoles still provide and that is a value in it's own right.

On the other hand, the long argument for building a PC in place of a console can still be had at around $400/$500 if 1080p is your deal.
