Ok i am seriously starting to get ticked off here. After numerous attempts of trying to download the complete mod for pripyat, it has not gone anywhere for me.
I am using the site MODDB that you all recommended. But every time i click to download the mod that window pops up and it shows a brief ad than it just sits there.
Nothing comes up for a download, it just sits there until it gives an internet explorer error. Could someone shed some light on this for me thanks. Is the download down?

try firefox of google chrome browsers?
What forceware version are you using? Are you using the drivers that came with the 9800 or are you using the latest drivers? And how old is that 9800?
the 9800 GTx is among the older cards right now.I would say try using the drivers that came with it.Since latest drivers sometimes produces issues with older GPU's that might be the issue here. Also does your motherboard has features like "hybrid sli" or "GEforce boost"? You may try disabling them to see if NVCP works ok.Also check for conflicts in device manger.

thanks for replying. Yeah, I used the latest forceware. Just tried an older driver from 2010 and it worked. damn nvidia
so confused right now! Putting a rig together for my kid brother, and so far everything worked so well. Problem is the nvidia control panel keeps crashing and freezing as soon as I click the advanced options to set AA and other settings. I took out the gpu (xfx 9800 gt) and added a gt 220.......and the control panel works fine with the 220 but not with the 9800.
I tried using nhancer to change settings and the program (nhancer) works fine with the 9800 gt. But the nvidia control panel won't. The odd thing is, as long as the control panel is open, some error (werp and werfault) in task manager keeps looping and generating multiple instances of itself!
I have tried rebooting, reinstalling gpu drivers, driver sweeper, nothing works!
Please help, I am completely at a loss!
there seems to be a huge flaw about the game that is stopping me. From what I hear the combat is still very mediocre which would drive me insane. To me a good game is where the gameplay is far superior than everything else, which I consider a bonus. For instance demons souls on the ps3, which I would say is my favourite RPG of all time, had abolutely no story, decent graphics, but the gameplay/combat was abolutely amazing. But now I need something to keep me busy until "demons souls 2" (dark souls) comes out in late october. I really want to get the Witcher 2, seems good overall, but the combat seems really bad. I was also thinking about Fallout:NV and Risen or if you guys can recommend me any other RPG that came out recently then that would be awesome.
blurguy6
from what you heard? from who?Who are they?
Kindly give us a link to "the combat is very mediocre".
By the way, I want to get mass effect 2, it's got a ton of positive reviews and hailed as one of thebest games of 2010. But the thing is, I've never played it, but from What I hear, the game's got one huge flaw, the combat is very mediocre.
see what I did there?

Excuse me? Keep recycling over and over?
Let's look at the latest fifteen years of history Blizzard has written:
Diablo was one of the first RPG-likes to show you don't need a hundred different stats to make a good game.
Warcraft 2 was, admittedly, a step in the mainstream direction.
Starcraft was the first RTS to have proper "different" races and unit selection (no game has still come near the ankle of Starcraft's diversity, period), was the first RTS to actually have a competitive multiplayer and a parsec-high skill ceiling, not to mention the humongous number of custom maps and new games its editor spawned.
Diablo 2 completely shattered and recreated the concept of "action/RPG" and the focus on items. It left scars so deep in the action/RPG genre that every game similar to it from then on has been called a "Diablo clone", unprecedented thing in gaming.
Warcraft 3 single handedly defined the RPG/RTS hybrid genre. Not to mention, once again, the legions of new games its editor spawned.
World of Warcraft turned every odd against it inside out and has become the benchmark for every MMO that wants to be released. Its innovation lied in the dedication Blizzard made everyone put in it.
Starcraft 2 is the first RTS to have a SP campaign where not one mission is similar to any other and a network that actually works with it rather than just existing to provide matchmaking support. It also is a step in the opposite direction RTSs are taking - Starcraft 2 is actually an RTS, not a RTS-lite.

what you only accomplished with that post is to show how much love you have for blizzard. You didn't really post anything that we didn't know (and you overexaggerated the games way too much. The first to do this and that) I agree with wildflower, blizzard games are good, not amazing, but good. But they need to broaden their horizons, rather than release the same stuff over and over again with new coats of paints. I mean do something new for once. And saying no game has come near starcraft diversity is a pure b.s fanboy statement. period.
I will never understand this insane blizzard loyalty. I mean sheesh, it's not like they pay you for it.
In all fairness, very few game studios focus on multiple genres. I'd say that Blizzards games seem to cover a broader collection of genres than most major studios out there. Id only makes FPS's Epic, only FPS's Relic works on RTS's Bioware does RPG's and now an MMO, Valve does FPS shooters. For blizzard to have been so successful in three different genres is pretty impressive imho: Diablo being the grand daddy of Action RPG's, WarCraft and StarCraft some of the most successful RTS's and WoW of course being the biggest MMO on the market.
I would agree that SC2 did relatively little to change the core SC gameplay formula, but with that exception I think every blizzard game released have made some very significant changes to the gameplay formulas of their games and franchise.
Last post. I am not disputing their contributions to the gaming industry. I actually enjoy their games. But to answer you danieldust............what I meant was, why is it that anytime someone puts out a negative (mind you minor negative in the broad spectrum of things), there will be a rabid fanboy spouting the usual "warcraft did this, starcraft did that! worship or you are stupid" tripe. No game is perfect. There is a major difference between having an opinion open to debate and just pure trolling.
Your post so far danieldust had reasoning behind it, unlike some other poster who decided to strike with the usual, "The truth hurts. it burnnnnnnnnnnnnns"
I liked, not loved, starcraft 2.

Sorry if truth burns.
I was just being charitable in showing people who can't afford a dictionary that they were using the word "recycling" the wrong way.
Typical of blizzard apologists, resorting to insults. Try something new for once. It's like in your world, no one is allowed an opinion different from yours. Is it so hard to believe that not everyone holds blizzard on a pedestal like you do? get over it and grow up. No chance of intelligent debates with rabid fanboys of any kind, reminds me of someone I used to know, he was a text book example of a gamer nerd (frothing at the mouth type of fanboy) have fun with the thread, I'm out.
[QUOTE="-wildflower-"]
I'm semi-serious. Blizzard's made, what, two games (one action-lite-RPG and one RTS) that they keep recycling over and over? Forgive me if I'm not impressed. I've said this before but Lost Vikings is the only Blizzard game I've ever liked (the first Diablo was okay, too).
