@pcps4xb: Exactly. I would imagine it really hurt the top guys at MS being hammered so badly this gen and most of that (apart from the fact that the PS4 is slightly more powerful than the One) was clearly due to the Sony box's exclusives. They've been coming thick and fast for the past 4 years or so. MS are clearly gearing up to take the fight back to Sony next gen (PS5 vs Xbox Two(??)) and this is certainly the most direct way to do that.
Personally I don't care about exclusives, but I was, probably like many gamers, very close to upgrading from my 360 to the PS4, especially when all the news started coming out about the PS4 being more powerful than the One, so will be really close to switching to the PS5 for the next gen. And I don't think I'll be alone. Hopefully I won't need to switch over now; at least I hope I won't - my Logitech G920 won't work on a PS!
But the best thing we can have, let's face it, is healthy competition between the consoles....and this seems to be the best way to achieve that, next gen.
@reznik00: Not this rubbish again. I really don't know why people keep dragging this pointless argument up time and time again. This clearly says it's a "console exclusive". Any idiot will know that means it can be played on the Xbox One systems (ie, the One, the One X or the One S) but cannot be played on the other current consoles; the PS4, the PS4 Pro or the PS4 Slim, or the Nintendo Switch.
It can be played, also, on a pc, as pcs run on windows, which is also produced by Microsoft. But, of course, as everyone knows, the pc is not a console.
@Lord_Sesshy: I know what you mean. I mean, the rest of the game looks gorgeous, great graphics, puzzles, exploration, etc, but the combat?? Ugh! I'd be happy with the XCOM type turn-based system, but it's just weird to be standing in front of 5 guys all lined up next to each other like that.
That bit really put me off, although, of course, it'll probably attract as many people as it deters.
I loved the first RAGE. A very underrated title imo. The combat / gun play was excellent. The crafting thing was pretty basic and the driving was very practical; ie, "I've killed everyone here, let's get to the next settlement so I can kill everyone there too".
The worst bit about the first game I thought was that the enemies didn't respawn; after you've spent 20 minutes clearing all the enemy from a bunker or encampment and thought "wow!! That was great fun!!", you couldn't go back and do it again. It would have been better imo if, after an in-game week or so, different enemy troops had recaptured that particular camp or bunker, so you could go back and clear them out again, using different tactics as they would all be in different places when you engaged them. I'm not sure how that would have worked but I think it would have changed RAGE from a 20-hour great fun game to a 40-hour fantastic game.
@Prats1993: I'm looking forward to trying it now it's free with Games With Gold. I mean, it looks awfully dated; I know it's 10 years old, but bearing in mind FC3 is only 4 years newer, I think that one looks miles better.
I've heard a lot about how great it is. Currently my favourite is still FC3, though I also enjoyed 5 and didn't try Primal.
