i wasn't in that thread unless you're blabbering about your theory that the ps3 price cut was "demand induced"...

i defy you to show ANY statement giving consumer demand the credit for the price cut...

tango90101

It's very simple. PS3 demand was substantially less than Sony anticipated resulting in a leftward shift of the demand curve. This shift resulted in a corresponding lower point in prive level on the supply curve. Lack of demand forced Sony to reduce the price of the PS3. As I said, the price cut was demand induced.

but the ps3 is "selling well" according to sony.... ;)

no need... right?

again...just ONE statement from sony...

I think anyone with a lick of sense knows the PS3 isn't selling as well as Sony had hoped. The company's PR department is in full damage control mode, and they should be. As I tried to explain to you yesterday, you and I were in full agreement as too why Sony really cut the price.

if we were in "agreement" yesterday, why did you post this:

"Yes, an AVP who didn't even understand a simple demand and supply curve yesterday"...

another self ownage...

c'mon...do better...

Because you when I said the price cut was demand induced you questioned that claim, though basic economic law says otherwise. You assumed the demand I spoke of was because the consumer "demanded" that price.

i see your point... i assumed you meant consumer/developer/publisher demand....

kind of weird when you consider the business model this is being run with..... hardly basic anything.... still not sure you're on target...

increased sales leads toincreased losses in this model....

They would be increased losses in the short term. I would imagine Sony is taking a loss leader approach and hoping to recoup cost later with a larger userbase and to a lesser degree increased returns on software and accessory sales. I don't see it paying off for them with the popularity of the Wii and the continued formidable lineup the 360 has in the next coming months. The gaming public can't and won't wait forever.

But if you want I I'll just side with you. We can all cry on each other's shoulders about how Sony is contributing to society's ills and harming the ones we love. Perhaps we can even get a special colored ribbon to wear and raise awareness. Or even better we can get a special rubber wrist band to wear to remind others of how we are suffering at the hands of the evil Sony corporate giant. And one day, when our children are safe and the world is at peace, the history books will remember you and I as the great saviors of what is right and wrong in the universe.

Wow. An MBA and this is the best you can come up with?

Very mature, BTW. Just be sure the people that employ you don't come across this thread or your job might be in jeopardy (specially if you are typing this from work...they can tell, you know).

An MBA from the University of Texas, huh? Thanks for the info, dude...I'm surely going to steer my kids away from that school now.

I've been self employed for two months and work as a consultant to aviation firms and airlines. I'll remind myself to go easy on myself in my next performance review.

The McCombs School of Business is one of the most highly rated schools in the country. At last check it was ranked 18th on USNWR graduate schools list, just 4 behind Yale.

Perhaps you should stick to financial topics then. When you get a computer degree from the University of Texas, perhaps we can talk intelligently. I'm in the computer business, so I know what I'm talking about when it comes to security breaches.

Pimpshigity21

For all you know the security hole was on DOD computer used by the receptionist. You have as much knowledge about any specific details regarding this "breach" as I do and that's a cold hard fact.

when you resort to sarcasm you KNOW you've lost the debate...

move on...

The correct term for my post would be parody and is a legitimate debate tactic.

Actually, tango90101 is right.

You clearly don't know what you are talking about...and you don't know when to quit.

Tango was also right when he said that you're not as informed as you pretend to be. The more you post, the more this fact becomes glaringly obvious.

Go ahead...respond with a personal attack now.

Quite the contrary. You've posted as much specific insight into the security breach as I have. Seriously, take a step back and look at this thread. You people are speaking of empowerment in regards to a VIDEOGAME. Pardon me, if the whole thing reaks of hillarity.

[QUOTE="ramey70"]It's just silly. You people moan and cry about something so incredibily stupid in regards to all the truly evil things corporations do. You act like you've just been treated so horribly, almost to the point you are literally crying. Lilac_Benjie

Read the list again. The crimes really are quite bad at their worst, and just plain insulting at their 'finest',

Now these are crimes? Wow.
