[QUOTE="SergeantSnitch"]So funny how almost all of those quotes were either taken out of context. I guess that's what fanboy have to resort to when there are no games to play on their beloved system.Ontain

so give us the context if you know better? i'm waiting.

One or two comments could be taken out of context. However, it's not once or twice with Sony. It's epidemic. They constantly step on toes or misspeak. There's no defense of innocence for what Sony says.

It's just silly. You people moan and cry about something so incredibily stupid in regards to all the truly evil things corporations do. You act like you've just been treated so horribly, almost to the point you are literally crying. The 360 is trouncing the PS3 because it has better games, is a better system, has a better controller, has better direction, has better online, has a better price. You name it, the 360 is probably better in any particular arena. Rest your arguements on that. It's far more becoming than whailing and whining and cloaking yourself with the victim mentality.

No, it's not personally insulting. Drinking poisoned water is personally insulting. Holding me back because of my skin color is personally insulting. Putting spyware on a CD for my entertainment is an annoyance, not personally insulting.

Are you A-ok with a foreign company that would put the security of your country at risk?

Sony finally provided a removal kit, but it left computers with big security holes. The rootkit was later found in Department of Defence and Homeland Security computers.

Yes, I'm sure the security holes provided a massive lapse in our security. I swear, sometimes I think this board has more drama queens than a roomfull of high school girls waiting to be asked to the senior prom.

[QUOTE="groudyogre"]Woah, how can anybody be a cow?? :| I am gobsmacked anybody would buy a ps3 after reading this thread. 10/10tango90101

I bought one for the Bluray player and that's about all I've used it for. Most gaming is done on my 360. The PS3 is still a great deal if you want it for movie playback.

PS3 - Cheapes Blu-ray player available! Doesn't make you a cow btw :) Cow = Sony fan

It's a crappy thing to do but not some personally insulting gesture.Ramey70

"Most people, I think, don't even know what a rootkit is, so why should they care about it?" - Not personally insulting?

it's a matter of personal principles.

anyone, anytime, that sneaks into my home with the intention of hurting a big ticket item of mine, i'm gonna take personnally...

You will have to forgive me if I don't equate a 6 year old girl dying of a brain tumor induced by water born carcinogens to "hurting a big ticket item of mine".

[QUOTE="Teufelhuhn"]The way some of you get so personal about these companies is beyond hilarious.Lilac_Benjie

QFT

So viral marketing and placing hidden spyware rootkits on CD's is hilarious?

Not funny

It's a crappy thing to do but not some personally insulting gesture. And definitely not something that gives me a sense of empowerment. Put it this way....

Company A dumps chemicals into a community's water supply and people take a stand and force them to pay fines and medical help for those affected. You have a reason to feel empowered.

Company B discriminates against people on the basis of color and people take them to court and force them to pay restitution and improve diversity. You have a reason to feel empowered.

Company C makes a bunch of absurd marketing claims about a videogame system and you don't buy said system. You have no reason to feel empowerd and if you do then you are the definition of sad.

[QUOTE="Lazy_Boy88"]No. Scaling does not make it look much better. And prettymuch all DVD players have upscalers these days. Both HDDVD and Blu-ray players upscale DVDs. There's nothing settled between them at all. There's a market for HD discs, period. One is going to dominate.SegArgyle

I'm afraid dvd's will continue to dominate cuz their cheap

plus eventually the majority are gonna digitally download like music

making the disc totally obsolete

Is it possible a sizeable market will exist for online media? Yes. Will it dominate? No. The general public still wants to "own" something and it's hard for them to feel that way with digitial downloads. In addition, the movie companies are obsessed with anti-piracy measures and both HD-DVD and Bluray were built heavily with that in mind. You also have a segmented market in that many people in the US still don't have broadband internet.
