Here's what happened.

It started out like any other Wednesday, really. We were all getting ready for school, and before we go we have to feed our cats. Now you see, my mom has to keep both of them downstairs because Leo (my other cat) pisses up the carpet and vomits all over the place. It is SO much fun. :D And she gets really mad if she sees them upstairs. (n trust me, you don't want to make my mom mad @_@) Well Cassie was feeding the cats today. She brought the food downstairs, placed it on a table, and had also managed to get Leo downstairs as well. The only problem was Luna. She was asking her cat very nicely to come downstairs, but it wouldn't work. So Cassie picked Luna up and just sorta carried her down. Bad idea. Luna hates being held, so she sort of scampered out of Cassie's arms. While Luna was doing that, she must have hit her head on the wall. That's the ONLY thing I'm unclear of, the only person who knows exactly what happened was Cass and I don't want to ask her about it now. A few seconds later, Cass starts screaming and crying for her grandma. So she [granma] waddles over to the staircase, sees Luna, and hollers my name. At this point I didn't think something bad had happened, I just thought Cassie got shampoo in her eye or something stupid like that. After I hear my name I drag myself out of my room and see Luna lying motionless on the bottom of the staircase. Grandma quickly instructed me to get a box, because we had to take Luna to the hospital. At that point she knew she was already dead, but we were still taking her anyway. So I get a cardboard box, (it was the one my computer came in) a blanet, and gently placed Luna's limp body in it. I could already tell she was dead when I picked her up. After that we all rushed to the animal hospital and SURPRISE SURPRISE. They were closed. And Cassie just wouldn't accept that they were closed, she kept pounding on the door and saying that her cat needed help. Luckily someone *was* there, and he opened his hospital early. (btw it's a really small 'hospital' with only one room at the side of the road, nothing too fancy.) The four of us walked in and I asked the man to please look at our cat. My grandma and I went into the room with him. He checked her heartbeat and told us that she was dead-- probably from a broken neck, or maybe a heart attack. When we walked outside we told Cassie that Luna had a heart attack and that it was NOT her fault. She was still crying pretty badly at that point but she wasn't blaming herself for the whole thing. The worst part was when we got home. It was so quiet. Cassie had requested that I go and fetch Luna's favorite blanket-- it was also Cassie's favorite blanket as a baby. (well not really a blanket, but a piece of brown fabric with artificial fur on it.) She wanted me to put it over Luna. It was so hard to do, at that point I couldn't help crying. I also asked if I should get Luna's bed and place her in there. Cassie said yes. So I set up Luna in her little basket like she always sat, we also got some of her favorite toys to put in there with her. Cassie spent some time petting Luna and brushing her fur. She was too sad to go to school today, but now she looks a lot better. Cass's stopped crying, but now she's just wondering WHY this all had to happen. That's only natural. Fortunatly she's already looking into getting a new pet, which is pretty rare for kids. Unfortunatly we've already decided on a dog. :( I HATE DOGS!!! I wish we could get another cat instead. ;_______; By the way, it's not really my birthday today. The reason I titled that was because my birthday's two days away. To me, the cat dying was like one big ugly and early "present." Thanks to everybody who said something, it means a lottttt. And yeah that's pretty much all that happenes. Surprisingly I was not late for school.
