I'm expecting this movie to end with some sort of Darkseid tease. Maybe we get a shot of him at the end or maybe there is just an indication of his existence. Either way he sounds like the logical next step for the "bigger world" and "bigger reveal".
I'm not totally convinced they would never ever go back to creating a new park. When you think about real life history a recurring theme is that history tends to repeat itself to an extent. Or, if you think about science, people are constantly trying to evolve, reinvent, and improve old ideas, even ones that failed in the past.
Hypothetically speaking if the Jurassic Park story existed in the real world it wouldn't surprise me if some rich, greedy business man felt that he could create a new, bigger, more secure park than the original. In the movie they even mention the short comings of the original park and how they took precautions to prevent anything such as that happening again.
Perhaps most important is that if this took place in real life the science and technology that allowed people to create and engineer dinosaurs would still exist. They wouldn't just throw away that ground breaking technology. There would be various people in the world that would want the technology and have their own motives behind what they want to use it for. It wouldn't be completely unrealistic that someone would want to creating their own, bigger version of the park.
@Fia1: I understand the complaints about some of the copy and paste elements but why are people assuming that the next 2 movies will do the same thing? The big thing I have against Lucas is that, from what I know, he wasn't really involved with the plans for episode 7 or the new trilogy. I'd rather them stick to the plan than to bring in George Lucas who is going to want to make changes and do things his way. At least with the plan now there is going to be consistency throughout.
I'm curious about how old you are because from what I've heard from people that saw the original trilogy when the movies first released it was quite ground breaking in terms of sci-fi, fantasy story telling as well as special effects. I just wonder if you are looking at if from the perspective of someone who grew up years after the originals released, when nearly every space type movie was influenced by star wars, or if you actually grew up when the movies released and always held your opinion.
I think the important thing is that even though Trevorrow is directing episode 9 it's not solely his film and story. He still needs to follow the tone, style, and story of episodes 7 and 8 so that it feels like a true trilogy and not 3 movies done by 3 seperate people.
As a fan of episode 7 I'm optimistic that there is a good plan set in place for the next two films. I personally felt if Lucas came in he wold want to redo everything his way and that would disrupt the plan in place.
I thought Jurassic World had some good ideas to it. I was a fan of the overall idea of Jurassic World being a Sea World/Disney World type of place. Also like the idea of peole trying to weapons the dinosaurs. I could see both of these happening and a hypothetical real world situation.
To me the biggest change for Jurassic World was the overall feel and tone to the movie. It just felt a lot less serious and more "fun". I think it resulted in an entertaining movie but one that didn't quite fit in the Jurassic Park world.
I don't know about calling the prequels "great movies". I haven't watched them in some time, admittedly, but nothing struck me as particularly great except for maybe episode 3.
However I do feel that the prequels receive more negativity than they deserve while the original movies are overly praised. It's as if saying anything bad about the originals is blasphemous. Likewise with saying anything positive about the prequels.
Out of curiosity how did you feel about episode 7, assuming you saw the movie, in comparison to the prequels? For me personally it felt truer to the original trilogies, which I liked. It's been awhile since I saw the prequels but it always seemed odd to be that they are suppose to take place before the original trilogy but had the appearance of a movie set further in the future (just one of my complaints).
For me personally I would rather have them stick to the plan with the story and directors they have rather than bring in Lucas where he is undoubtedly going to want to change things to his liking
Based solely on Jurassic World, I feel like his style and tone will fit well in the Star Wars universe. It also helps that the 3 directors, I believe, have been working on this story together so it's not like he is doing his own thing seperate from Abrhams.
It doesn't make sense. Fans obviously love him for the original trilogy however he has received a lot of negativity for the prequel trilogy and the re-releases if the original trilogies that made unnecessary changes and additions. I know this is Lucas's baby, so to speak, but he really hasn't done anything post Return of the Jedi that proves he is capable of bringing the series back to greatness.
The Force Awakens might not have lived up to the hopes and expectations of all fans but I can't say that I have faith that Lucas would have done any better. In fact, based on the prequel trilogies, I fear we would have gotten something worse.
