I hope he goes to a contending team in the West because that conference has become a joke. You have a bunch of teams that can win 50 games in the reg season but only one that is TRULY good enough to win it all. If he doesn't go to Portland or MAYBE Dallas (2 of the 4 teams reported), and if OKC doesn't get some size, the Lakers will be living in the finals for the next 3 years. They might not win but they'll be there. While you have all the "super teams" being formed this yr and maybe next yr with the knicks all happening in the East Conf. All the big talent from the West is going to East Conf teams (Amare, Boozer, Lebron and Bosh stayed, now potentially Paul, then Melo and Parker next yr). The West Conf is heading towards irrelevancy and that's not good.

Assuming longevity is not a requirement for the football HOF, yes.

Tell that to Terrell Davis. You won't find another running back in the HISTORY of the league that had 3 consecutive years better than he did in 96,97 and 98

in fact in many respects he is more of a HOF'er than my favourite team's QB .... the Colts Peyton Manning ....

That is just absurd. Manning has more yds, wins, completions, touchdowns, mvp's, etc. They have the same amount of SB rings. When it's all said and done people will argue whether Manning is the best qb ever, and although Warner definitely deserves to be in the hall of fame, NOBODY will ever argue that for him

[QUOTE="monkeytoes61"] I saw that he played well in relief of Schroder, but bad when he started. http://www.nfl.com/videos/nfl-network-top-ten/09000d5d81113398/Top-Ten-QB-Controversies-Williams-vs-Schroeder

either way he wasn't the first string qb and that's the misconception. People think since he won the SB he was the primary qb the whole year and that's simply not the case

Yeah I knew he wasn't a primary starter and was in a way a one-hit wonder but I just feel like he's sort of overlooked in some ways but you're statements are true about him though. But don't forget he had one of the most amazing SB performances of all time. 18-29, 340 yards, and 4 touchdowns.

absolutely. And even more less known is the fact that timmy smith, the redskins rb, ran for something like 210 yds that game which is still a sb record. You want to talk about a one hit wonder. At least Williams was in the league for 10 years and had a nice postseason run, my man timmy smith had ONE good game, he just picked a hell of a stage to have it. He played like 2-3 years in the league and had 600 TOTAL rushing yds not counting that SB. Looking back i guess everybody had a field day on that Broncos D that Super Bowl

[QUOTE="flowersjf"][QUOTE="sixringz1"] To be fair Doug Williams wasn't even the starting qb for the skins, Jay Schroeder was. He started 2 games of the reg season that yr and that was it. Schroeder was banged up (although was healthy enough to play in the playoffs) at the end of the year, but Gibbs thought a healthy Williams was better than Schroeder at 80-85%, and he was right. If he was the starter the whole year, and had been a good qb prior to that, he would get more respect. But he was an avg qb his entier career before and after that yr. He falls into the Jeff Hostetller category. A backup qb who didn't play much all year, who went on a hell of a run, culminating in a super bowl. Nothing wrong with having that one year, or one postseason, to hang your hat on, but i think he gets the proper amount of credit. He gets the recognition for being the only black qb to win a SB, but he didn't have the type of career overall to warrant much else.

That's true, way to correct my errors. I remember watching Americas Game on NFL Network talking about that Redskins team led by Doug Williams and how he was starting one week and benched the next because of Jay Schroders injuries and inconsistent play.

OJ is still in the Hall of Fame in the same manner as he was when first elected. This after being found guilty in civil court (not criminal) of 2 deaths, and now he is most likely going to be in jail for the rest of his life for armed robbery (karma is a you know what). And to tell you what, i'm fine with it. What he does after his career, right or wrong, has no bearing on what he did as a player, and he was a hell of a player

Warren Moon by far, he was so ahead of his time. Just a pity that teams didn't care about him because of skin color:(

I agree with this statement so much, I wish I got to see him play during his time and as an African-American I feel glad that he's in the HOF but he never gets recognition just like Doug Williams who won a SB against a John Elway led Broncos team. Jeff Garcia is pretty underrated too.

Don't get me wrong, i like warren moon but he played in the run and shoot. That is the same offense that the universit y of Houston plays and is very similar to the offense Texas Tech runs, which is a straight GUNNING offense. You throw the ball 50 times a game on the regular. You better put up good numbers with that many attempts. Anyway, my vote goes to Steve Young. He was never able to truly showcase his talents until he was 30 years old because of his time in the USFL and the fact he had to back up Montana. Hell he was a first ballot HOF and he was only the first string qb for 9 years (one year w/ Tampa where they sucked, and his last yr in SF where he only played 3 games).
