@eamo-k: It's a 720p handheld and a 1080p console when docked, its a little less powerful than the XB1, and above all else it's brand spankin new and hasn't had the benefit of being released for several years to warrant being sold at a lesser price.
The PS4 was $400 when it released and the XB1 a whopping $500, and MS forced buyers to buy the console with a peripheral people may or may not have wanted at the time ( I know I didn't, screw Kinect) and packed in hardware that runs some games at 720p.
@thecman25: I haven't been a fan of Nintendo since the Nintendo 64, and in my opinion the Switch looks great, way better than the Wii or Wii-U in terms of simplicity, functionality, and even aesthetics.
@jmc88888: Oh come on, the XB1 still gets 720p titles from time to time, and 9 out of 10 times PS4 games suffer framerate issues.
For the Switch being a new piece of hardware offering what it does I don't think $300 is unfair, and half the stuff you're babbling about is a bunch of "what if" crap that may and very well may not apply to the majority of people out there.
Nintendo has been dancing to the beat of it's own drum for 3 console generations, and it's clear they intend to continue to follow that trend and focus on a different market compared to those that prefer consoles like XB1 and PS4.
