I know I'm totally biased but I really feel RE4 stole the show.
Street fighter 6 and FF 16 where also huge highlights but RE4 remake has been circulating in the rumor mill for quite some time.
Whatever the case, I think this was a rather good showing for Sony and while not a full fledged Sony showcase what was on display was more than enough to get gamers from all different genres of gaming excited for what is to come.
I'm excited but still a little worried after that SF5 launch.
This open world story mode is a good step in the right direction. Let's hope the luck of even numbered street fighter entries continues with this latest entry.
Even though I would have loved for them to release a Code: Veronica remake instead more Resident Evil is always a good thing in my books.
I will say this however, of all of the remakes I am expecting this one to be less of a jump than the others. RE4 was the first foray into the over the shoulder 3rd person camera view and in many ways it could be argued pioneered that approach in the videogame genre.
As much amazing things RE4 did for gaming it was in a sense the beginning of the downward trend of the genre into a more action based title rather than what it originally started out as; survival horror.
It will be interesting to see what changes the team make to this next entry, though.
Hopefully it has the same impact the original did all those years ago.
Well, that's disappointing. Seems like this kind of thing is sadly becoming the norm.
A part of me wonders if this is a strategy on Ubisoft's part to set them apart and not get lost in the shuffle this month or if it is rather a move on their behalf due to them not really having much to show.
Say what you want, but the lack of a unified conference (-cough- E3!!!! -cough-) is the reason we are going to be seeing more moves like this in the future from other developers. At this rate I wouldn't be surprised if E3 never comes back.
Even though Bioware is currently a shell of the legendary company that many fell in love with all those years ago a big part of me is rooting for them to reclaim their former glory days. Perhaps Dragon Age 4 could be that title that puts them back on that roadmap. Who knows. 🤷♂️
Whatever you do Bioware make sure that this game is released with the proper amount of care and polish fans of the franchise are hoping for.
