While this month's lineup may come across as a little controversial I think overall it is a "win" for PSplus this month.
Even though I'm sure many hardcore PS gamers already have had GOW in their collection for quite some time now it's nice to see anyone who missed out on it finally getting a chance to see what all the fuss is about.
Believe me when I say the hype over GOW is well deserved!
Personally speaking, GOW was one of the best games of last gen and a complete pleasure to play. While the previous entries in the franchise were fun and iconic in their own right seeing a more mature Kratos as well as his highs and lows as he struggles his way through being a "good" father figure really elevated this latest adventure.
One can't help but wonder if releasing GOW as a free game now is in some ways a sign that we might hear some news about the sequel releasing much sooner than we had originally thought.
If history is a good indicator (which I think it is.) then I think we are going to be seeing a lot of other big name games being added to this list over the year.
Calling it right now... Dead Space remake will be pushed back. Hope I'm wrong.

Final Fantasy remake was my absolute GOTY when it dropped and the second I finished it I couldn't wait to see where the next installment took us (Yes, I know it's story is already out there since it is a remake... thank you 🙄).
FF7 remake was everything a remake of a pivotal title in gaming should be. I know there were some die-hards out there that had a few quibbles with certain things but overall I think what was delivered was a stellar example of what game developers should be aiming for with their attempt at bringing back old games to the modern era.
In fact, just talking about it right now has me all amped up to go play it again. It was that good!
Here's hoping we actually get news and footage of what is around the corner in part 2. 🤞🤞🤞
We will see how these tiers play out in the long term.
Goes without saying that we are most likely going to see the vast majority of gamers just utilize the Essentials tier as they just let their existing PSplus memberships roll over.
Of the other 2 I actually see the Premium tier being the next popular as it offers all the bells and whistles for a slight increase over the Extra. The Extra to me seems like it will most likely become the "middle child" of the bunch with the least amount of engagement.
Personally, I think the Premium package is going to be great for all those who have fond memories of some of those classic PS games from back in the day but don't feel the need to pull out their old PS system and search through a slew of games.
