As much of a controversial figure Kojima has made himself out to be I respect his drive and willingness to push the boundaries of our medium. Complacency, especially in this industry, is a death sentence.
Death Stranding looks like it will be no different than some of his other outings in that regards and I for one am both curious and excited as to where this world will take us as well as the future of gaming.
While some may call him egotistical the truth of the matter is we need more developers with "visionary" tendencies like Kojima, even if some of those ideas may come across as being eccentric.
I just hope that Nintendo follows it up with other great IPs and doesn't get too complacent, namely by using the template they used for their predecessors.
As monotonous as these results seem they shouldn't really come as a surprise.
Lets face it, games like GTA and Call of Duty have penetrated the casual gamer/gaming market and thus have become synonymous with the term "videogame."
People who rarely play or buy games have more than likely never heard of games like Nioh or anything else that doesn't end with the name Mario, Halo, Auto, or Duty.
Definitely will be keeping an eye out for this one. Has a very unique premise. Hopefully the features from this article will translate into the finished product.
I would love to see a FPS where the developers have actually taken the time and effort to construct an engaging and unique narrative as those games are hard to come by, especially in that genre.
@kcope: I'm not sure how it works with this new approach so maybe someone who knows more about it can chime in.
I was under the impression (at least this is what someone told me.) that although the 1st episode is on the disc if I lent it to a friend they would be able to download the rest of the episodes due to the physical disc acting as a sort of "season pass."
Haven't put this into practice yet so I myself am still unsure of the validity of this assumption.
