there is zero reason to not release a ps4 or xb1 on to pc unless ms or sony are paying tons of money to keep it solely on their platform. because this generation of consoles are using pc hardware, so the porting process requires virtually zero effort.
@bakagami @wowgrandpa @Max_160 i'll take the 200 games in my steam library and the open nature of the pc platform, long before i put myself in a position to give all that up just to play red dead redemption, or forza.
and you'll probably change your mind and fully agree with me once you realize how easy it is to emulate the next gen console games, give that they are pc architecture this time around. hence why consoles are about to be defunct,
@Max_160 @wowgrandpa well your reply is all over the place so i'm not going to even try to tackle each issue i have with it.
but i will say that the real problem could be summed up with this. it is a "$400 device" the next gen is restricted to a device that the console manufacturers felt was a comfortable price range for consumers. so for the next several years we will not see a big leap in advancement in gaming, because both consoles chose to go cheap and safe and not come out with any great advancement.
plus its is completely easy and effective for them to do this because they get to deflect the issue by comparing themselves to the wii u instead of the pc. these companies frame the discussion so that it works in their favor. that's how big corporations work.
you get 1080 up from 720. you get dx11 up from dx9. that is it. and these are not new. period.
the rest is still a bunch of stuff that makes for an inferior device (netflix, social media, gimmick peripherals, half-ass cloud migration). and i'm not going to list all the drawbacks of a closed system compared to an open platform like pc.
the fact is the industry is more interested in chasing the mobile device market and social media market. the concept of a console is about ready to be wiped out. it had its purpose before it got connected to the internet, but then it tried being more and more like a pc, but with no freedom at all.
once upon a time consoles came and killed off arcades, but now consoles are just trying to tack on stuff to remain a cost-worthy device in your home, but its totally redundant and irrelevant.
if you already have a need for a pc, you might as well spend a little more to build one for gaming that will last you years and you will have no restrictions that come with console gaming.
oh wait, i already own one. well then i'll just note that my current pc is 2 years old and will still outperform these new consoles because the hardware in the new consoles is just as OLD!
basically these consoles are getting windows 7 dx11 technology, 2 years behind schedule.
hopefully we don't have to wait another 8 years til microsoft comes out with the next dx improvement.
@Jasurim @wowgrandpa i'm not mocking exclusives. i'm just pointing out the little know fact that the PC has far more exclusives than all other platforms combined.
its another case of the consolers not knowing what they're missing.
@JumpyLuweegee @wowgrandpa lets just do the math. say $500 for a console, + say 3 games... you can build a very good pc for under $700 and you will have access to hundreds of games with bargain bin prices.
