I stand corrected. I guess I expected New Egg to be a bit more stable than your average trendy car salesman! :)
(by the way I have a mini cooper, paid below sticker)
Still, who do you shop with, and is the service really that much worse in other retailers? Most of the time you end up dealing with the manufacturer for problems anyway right? Thats why I bought EVGA, ever tried to call Asus for anything?
Funny Story,
Called Asus following is a rough transcript.
Asus Tech : hello , thank you for calling Asus can I help you?
Me: Yes I was wondering if the new MOBO you have can support 2 way sli as well as 3 way.
Asus Tech guy: It will only support quad Sli.
Me: What? Quad SLI? I was not aware of any board supporting Quad Sli yet?
Asus Tech: Yes I have confirmed it here in my computer, It supports Quad Sli.
Me: What about the 45n Chips, what support will it have for those
Asus Tech: It will not support them.
Me; I thought that was the main selling point?
Asus Tech: No it will not support any new chips
Me: Dude I dont think you know what your talking about ( I knew that it supported duo core, was not sure about Yorkfield)
Asus Tech: Let me transfer you to someone that can help.
5 minutes on hold.....
10 minutes on hold...........
15 minutes on hold...........
Gave up.
Called Evga with simliar questions On and off in 10 minutes.
If you talking about this kind of difference in service then maybe the 75% markup is worth it, but I just don't think New egg is that much better than Zipzoom or directron or tiger.
