@JBStone1981 Exactly.. inane, and outrageous. It doesn't matter if it's death threats, personal attacks, or otherwise. These people don't care how far they're pushing the limit, only that they ARE pushing the limit. Even if they're not necessarily trying to get onto Feedbackula, it doesn't change the fact that the opinions that are shown are reflective of the community, thus lowering the bar by which you compare the community.
It's no different than glorifying suicidal teenagers or school shooters in the public media. Yes, they've obviously done something bad, but by glamorizing these concepts, society is encouraged to do the same, much like this community is encouraged to NOT have well thought-out comments that might actually attribute something to discussions. No, instead we're encouraged to troll to our hearts content, because GameSpot takes the time to showcase the trolls on a weekly basis.
@Shanks_D_Chop Of course it's up to the user what they decide to say, and post. But do you honestly think Feedbackula does anything to encourage people to say thought-out, logical comments? Absolutely not. On the other hand, it actually encourages people to say the first offensive comment that comes to mind. I can't tell you how many times I've seen someone say on an article, or a review, 'man I hope this is next weeks Feedbackula! :D'. And you honestly think that it ISN'T encouraging childish behavior?
I completely agree with this video, except for one detail. The GameSpot community went to crap right around this time a year ago.. oh, wouldn't you know it, that's when Feedbackula started becoming a weekly webshow. Granted, we've always had our fair share of close-minded idiots prowling around, but ever since Feedbackula there has been an influx of awful comments, on every portion of the site.
In my opinion, Feedbackula has done nothing but encourage this inane behavior by showcasing the opinions of these people. Feedbackula says to the community 'hey, make sure your opinion is incredibly trivial, naive, and blatantly dumb, and you might end up on our show!' Do you really think that it's a coincidence? People say whatever ridiculous crap they can on the 'trendiest' news articles, in hopes that they'll end up being featured on Feedbackula. Only now, it's starting to spread to wherever there's a comment box, which is, well.. practically everywhere. It's spreading to all parts of the website BECAUSE of Feedbackula.
Update your TOS to actually DO SOMETHING about these people, get rid of Feedbackula, and I guarantee you the community shapes up. It won't be perfect, as no large online community of users never are, but I promise we'll all see an improvement.
Oh, and allow me to say that The Point is one of the few shows on GameSpot that is at all worth watching. Keep making these Danny, you're doing great.
@H4num4n @yearssomuch The difference between good and bad journalism is a fine line, and Eddie Makuch isn't on the good side. He spends more time trying to think of a antagonizing headliner than he does writing these articles up.
If you think proper journalism is striving for hits, then yeah, he's doing fantastic.
@david1230 I hate Microsoft's policies as much as the next guy, but you sound dumb man. If you dislike it so much, don't purchase it. If they choose to make you have XBLG in order to use it, and you don't want XBLG, then don't purchase it. Simple.
@Vodoo LOL. You're seriously naive if you think that suddenly, the entirety of the XBL community is going to be simply 'adult gamers'. Xbox Live has always been far worse for 'foul mouthed, disrespectful, entitled trash', and that's not changing any time soon.
On the 'games' front, Microsoft and Sony are more or less neck-and-neck. Neither of them have any truly interesting exclusives, save for Quantum Break.
Just another troll-bait article by Eddie Makuch, what else would you expect to see on GameSpot?
@TrueGB And considering Bungie no longer has ties to Halo, it's done for. Like you said, the best games are available on both consoles, and the GOOD exclusives won't be coming for a few years.
Another troll-bait article from Eddie Makuch, what else is new? This man is not a proper journalist. If his misleading headlines didn't score him so many hits, he'd have been fired a long time ago.
