[QUOTE="-Pred-Alien-"]Yes breaking youre way through the media at a time when blacks werent marketable? Hardly a 'black' icon.:roll:GrindingAxe
I guess my point (and others) is the fact that Michael went out of his way to whiten everything about himself. Its like he was ashamed of being black.

He had vitiligo. He did not hate the black community nor was ashamed of it. Why do people assume such irrational things?

Right, all that bleaching of the skin was the result of some vitiligo. Are you sure you want to take that stance?

He only addressed this issue because people like Al Sharpton were reffering to him as a "black icon" at his funeral, when in reality, the man didn't even want to be black! He had his nose chiseled down, bleached his skin, and purchased white children! Now you tell me how that's being a "black icon".

Vitiligo appears in patches, ask any dermatologist. And lets pretend he had a severe case, more severe than others, that dosent explain why his entire body is neatly painted white, why he would remove his nose, and why he would buy white kids...

[QUOTE="Maniacc1"][QUOTE="trix5817"]

Uhhh...you completely missed my point.

Innocent until proven guilty is how our governments justice system works. Even if you practically know someone like John Dillinger robbed banks and killed people, you couldn't arrest him. You have to find someway to prove it, or else he's TECHNICALLY innocent in the court of law.

My point is that you can't use "innocent until proven guilty" to assume someone is innocent. I guess you have to understand the court system to understand what I'm saying.

trix5817

You can't use "innocent until proven guilty" to assume someone is guilty either. :? But you're right, people hold personal ideas about others. Therefore my opinion that MJ is innocent is just as valid as your opinion that he isn't. Seems we've reached a middle ground eh?

I never stated I thought he was guilty...

I'm simply arguing that using "innocent until proven guilty" structure of a court systems is an invalid argument in this situation.

It's not invalid at all.

People actually get CONVICTED for stuff that they didn't do. This guy wasn't even able to get a conviction in court, and you're saying that it's valid for the man to be held guilty in the court of public opinion.

Again, OPINION doesn't prove guilt. EVER. There's either proof, or there isn't proof. There's no proof that he did it in a court of law, and there's no proof that he did it in a court of public opinion.

He had vitiligo, do you not know what that does? He could afford to even it out so it wasn't apparent, why wouldn't he :?

As for his facial features, he did that out of insecurity, the initial nosejob was actually done out of necessity when he injured it. He had to reconstruct it.

Really, what is up with all the hate from him and Rush?

For those who don't read, he seems mostly upset that MJ has kids by white eggs and sperm. Also that he spent some of his money on himself.

Sorry if old. Here is the link:

http://tv.msn.com/tv/article.aspx?news=420144>1=28103

What do you think?

GrindingAxe

I understood where Bill was coming from. MJ did all he could to distance himself from being black (white kids, white wives, white transformations, Macaulay Culkin:P), so how could he be a black icon. Then again, maybe its not MJ who decides if he's an icon or not. If millions of blacks see him as an icon, then he has no choice but to be one.

Would a proper black icon be a rapper who hangs out in the ghetto, has criminal ties, and promotes the stereotype of black people as buffoons?

If instead of getting plastic surgery to thin his nose, if instead of straightening his hair, would it have been preferable if he got plastic surgery to give him big ol' lips and gigantic ears?

Oh no! He had white wives! That must make him some kind of race sellout!

You really hit the nail on the head with the last statement. People choose their icons, not the other way around. If people are saying that he's a "black icon", then that's what he is.

I guess my point (and others) is the fact that Michael went out of his way to whiten everything about himself. Its like he was ashamed of being black.

I've been hearing people hurl those same accusations at me since I was a kid. "Oh, you're ashamed of being black." Why? Because, like, I didn't skip school, I didn't steal stuff, and I liked to read.

Which is really sort of a load of crap. Because it propagates the idea that there is a way that black people should be, and deviation from that path means that you're ashamed of your blackness.

REALLY? As a black person (ANY black person), how is that black person supposed to tell WHICH aspects of "blackness" he should embrace in order to not be considered a sellout? What business does ANYONE (black or otherwise) have criticizing a black man for making choices that go against established "black behavior"?

Is Michael Jackson supposed to be a man who is black? Or is he supposed to be part of the black collective?

Should he have married black women and adopted black kids just in order to SEEM blacker? Would that have been better?

This is something that I seriously want an answer to. WHO has any business telling a black man (or any man)how he should live his life? If a white woman decides to live in a black ghetto to help out the community, and then she adopts some black kids and gets a black husband, does that make her any less white? Does that mean that she hates being white, and wants to strip her life of whiteness? Or does she get to be just a person, who just so happens to live amongst blacks and voluntarily immerse herself in "black culture"?

I'm sorry, but that was the most ridiculous thing I've read in a long time. You are really trying too hard to explain what MJ did. If a white woman did what MJ did, I would call her out for it big time. Its crazy. MJ was crazy. Remember, this "white woman" that you wish to replace MJ with has to also do a lot of things such as, dye her skin black, adobt only black kids, marry a black "man" even though she's a lesbian, plus she has to do some real damage to her nose to make it appear Ellen Degenerous like....

If you can afford it, do it It's clear MJ had it It took him years to cover it up and I don't blame him for doing it, he's a celebrity and he feeds on the public.

I would have to disagree with that. I used to debate a conservative in real life at an old job of mine. I am willing to bet he would believe both of those things.

Living with Vitiligo would have left him deformed, no why the hell would a celebrity who depends on public image with the money he has not even out the whiteness of his skin. There was no hope of making it darker... Also, white kids? Who cares? By that logic, because Angelina Jolie adopted an African child, she therefore renounces any whiteness.

Every Liberal knows somebody of every political stance, race, religion, ethnic origin, sexual orientation and country that always agrees with them on everything, this person is always brought up when a comment made about that side is made the liberal doesn't agree with. So I stand by what I said. I am not attacking you, just pointing out things I have found out over my years online. Don't believe me, test it out.

It is not possible to darken skin...You have to understand how Vitiligo is treated. This is a good overlook. The only way to treat it is to lighten the rest of your skin, pigment loss due to Vitiligo is complete and you can't darken your skin by adding more pigment. That's why the only real way to treat it is by using creams which cause extreme paleness, kind of like those guys in your signature (:P) or in Michael Jackson's case.

I saw a reporter who uses creams to do it, but MJ is an entertainer who dances alot so the sweat would cause the creames to run. Embrassing.

[QUOTE="Toriko42"] Living with Vitiligo would have left him deformed, no why the hell would a celebrity who depends on public image with the money he has not even out the whiteness of his skin. There was no hope of making it darker... Also, white kids? Who cares? By that logic, because Angelina Jolie adopted an African child, she therefore renounces any whiteness.Toriko42

With his money he could have darkened his skin to match his natural color instead of lightening it were that the case.

There is a method that requires going to a doctors office and being exposed to PUVA light to combat the white patches. It takes about a year or so but then it's done. There is some success in this area.

I disagree, there is a culture war and left wing attempts to deny it are starting to fail and more and more voters are starting to see that. Which is what you are doing, denying there is one so people will maybe believe and let you do what you please with no opposition.

I saw a reporter who uses creams to do it, but MJ is an entertainer who dances alot so the sweat would cause the creames to run. Embrassing.

In fact that happened often, there are pictures of it

Thats why creames were not an option for him. Imagine what would have happened if he dripped during a concert?

You have to see though who got the disease in 1986, the peak of his career. The easiest way to deal with it was creams not to mention the limited technology back then. He was always on the road and I think he used the creams out of convenience. Suffice to say though, there is no merit in saying Jackson wanted to eliminate his blackness.

That did happen, but it's better then showing the vitiligo off.

What's with all the hate on Bill O'Reilly? Practically every young adult I know hates him, which I think says something about them. I don't think Michael Jackson deserves praise anyway.

Nope. Voters saw right through the "culture war" BS and have been voting righties out of office since 2006.

Kinda stings, doesn't it? :)

Most people who hate him don't watch him. Also the hate comes from the left who hate him because he doesn't toe a liberal line. That is the only reason.

 You keep believing that. It was the war and the economy not culture that caused that. But keep believing what you want, I see right through you.

Bill O'Reilly isn't even conservative, he's an independent traditionalist and I watch his show for laughs, it's all crap.

Yet it's the most watched show on cable television? I find it hilarious when you guys insult him like this.

Patriotic Americans have been seeing through righties like you and have been gleefully voting you guys out of office.

But please keep regurgitating Limbaugh talking points. You'll never learn why you lost :)

I'd say it can be interpreted that way. When you add everything up it does appear that way.
